It's a pineapple cake that you just mix, put in a mold, and bake. However, even mixing it required a bit of skill, and I enjoyed figuring out how to make it look nice when putting it into the mold. I also enjoyed talking with people from the same country.

instructor:Vivian was knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke fluent English. She was an excellent teacher location: close to Dr Sun Yat Sen memorial & arts/culture activities nearby. it was a fun activity! we got to make soup dumplings, chicken soup noodles & bubble tea from scratch and got to eat it for lunch as well. Highly recommend this foodie activity for all ages. You receive a certificate of completion of the cooking class as well as the recipes and pics of your experience at the end.

Vi bookede DIY-oplevelsen, og instruktøren/instruktørerne var alle så venlige og imødekommende. Oplevelsen er afslappende og slet ikke skræmmende. De har plads til at hænge din jakke og opbevare din taske, og de har vand og varm te at drikke, hvis du ønsker det. Instruktøren vil tjekke ind på dig fra tid til anden og hjælpe dig, hvis du har brug for det. Værktøjet og de våde ingredienser er allerede afmålt og forberedt, og jeg skulle kun afmåle de tørre ingredienser. Instruktionerne er nemme at følge, og den ananaskage, jeg lavede, smagte frisk og anderledes end de almindelige og billige, der kan købes som souvenirs. Smagte stadig godt selv efter 3 dage! Min partner lavede peberboller DIY, og vi sad sammen. De vil også tage et billede af dig til at printe som et postkort med ingredienserne listet på bagsiden. Kan varmt anbefales! En af mine yndlingsting at gøre i Taipei, og jeg vil helt sikkert prøve dette igen, når vi kommer tilbage.

I recieved the great experience. The instructor was kindly, friendly, humorous, and taught in a detailed and easy-to-understand manner. My classmates were also friendly and actively involved. Taiwanese food is the best😋😋

It was always my dream to take a cooking class while traveling abroad, and I finally made it happen. I was so grateful that they didn't cancel the class, even though I was the only one who booked today. The instructor was incredibly kind and made the class very enjoyable. Even though my English isn't great, they explained everything clearly. The market and neighborhood tour, along with the history lessons, were also really interesting. When I mentioned I don't like meat soup, they immediately adjusted the recipe for me. They said they would accommodate such requests even if there were multiple participants, so I encourage picky eaters like me to give it a try. Also, while daikon greens are usually discarded, they created a pickle side dish on the spot when I mentioned we eat them in Korea. They even prepared ice today, which they don't normally do, because a Korean traveler booked and they anticipated I might ask for an iced Americano. How thoughtful! I highly recommend this to other Korean travelers. They also diligently took many photos and videos throughout the class. The space itself is also very beautiful.

It was an amazing and unique culinary lesson experience! That morning, Sofia had just purchased unique local ingredients fresh from Hualien. They were all things I had never seen before. She tested me on a few to see if I recognized them, and it turned out I couldn't name more than half of them... LOL. Sofia explained Taiwan's indigenous culture, introducing the relationship between indigenous food culture and Taiwanese history. The most interesting part was that the menu for that day's class was determined by the suitable ingredients available that morning, meaning the content and dishes for each class might be different! Sofia was also very talkative and friendly. I'm an extremely introverted person, but I did feel welcomed at her place. Besides indigenous culture and food, I also chatted with her a lot about her travels and her feelings about life experiences. From her story, I gained the courage to pursue my dream. I am very grateful to Sofia for the wonderful afternoon she thoughtfully gave me. I hope to visit Hualien next time and experience a different Jialan Ke Kitchen! =)
