Taipei Cooking classes

It's a pineapple cake that you just mix, put in a mold, and bake. However, even mixing it required a bit of skill, and I enjoyed figuring out how to make it look nice when putting it into the mold. I also enjoyed talking with people from the same country.

instructor:Vivian was knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke fluent English. She was an excellent teacher location: close to Dr Sun Yat Sen memorial & arts/culture activities nearby. it was a fun activity! we got to make soup dumplings, chicken soup noodles & bubble tea from scratch and got to eat it for lunch as well. Highly recommend this foodie activity for all ages. You receive a certificate of completion of the cooking class as well as the recipes and pics of your experience at the end.

Amazing!!! It was a very enriching experience, we learned how to make dumplings and we really enjoyed it! We were able to make both vegan and pork dumplings!!! I had such a wonderful experience at CookInn Taiwan! The pineapple cake class was so much fun, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The instructors and staff were incredibly friendly, patient, and always happy to help, making the whole experience enjoyable and easy to follow. The class was well-organized, and I loved learning how to make authentic Taiwanese pineapple cakes from scratch. It was a great hands-on activity, and I even got to bring home my freshly made treats! I highly recommend CookInn to anyone visiting Taiwan, whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or with family. It’s a unique and memorable experience that gives you a taste of Taiwanese culture. Be My Guest Taipei Cooking Class was a great experience, and Alex was an excellent host! I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone visiting Taipei who enjoys food, cooking food, and learning some cultural context along the way. Alex began the class by giving us a short tour of the Dadaocheng neighborhood of Taipei, including a neighborhood market. His cooking studio is very modern, aesthetically tasteful, and fully stocked. He provided fool-proof instructions on how to cook Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and it was such an interesting experience that the time just flew by. You make everything in the soup from scratch (including both the noodles and the broth), and the final product was absolutely delicious - perhaps even more so knowing that you make it yourself! After the class, you can simply walk down Dihua Street and check out the varied storefronts and the nearby Yongle Fabric Market. All worthwhile destinations in their own right.

It was an amazing and unique culinary lesson experience! That morning, Sofia had just purchased unique local ingredients fresh from Hualien. They were all things I had never seen before. She tested me on a few to see if I recognized them, and it turned out I couldn't name more than half of them... LOL. Sofia explained Taiwan's indigenous culture, introducing the relationship between indigenous food culture and Taiwanese history. The most interesting part was that the menu for that day's class was determined by the suitable ingredients available that morning, meaning the content and dishes for each class might be different! Sofia was also very talkative and friendly. I'm an extremely introverted person, but I did feel welcomed at her place. Besides indigenous culture and food, I also chatted with her a lot about her travels and her feelings about life experiences. From her story, I gained the courage to pursue my dream. I am very grateful to Sofia for the wonderful afternoon she thoughtfully gave me. I hope to visit Hualien next time and experience a different Jialan Ke Kitchen! =)

This class was absolutely amazing! Sofia not only taught us about the native ingredients we were using and how to prepare them but also the cultural history and importance behind them to the indigenous community. Everything was so fresh and absolutely delicious. We learned and ate so much that she convinced us to travel to Hualien ourselves. She also went above and beyond for us by hosting us at her home when the original class did fill up with enough participants, traveling all the way from Hualien. Absolutely everyone should take this class to learn about Taiwan's indigenous peoples, cook and eat delicious food, and share in insightful conversation. Sofia is the absolute best!
