Chiang Mai Province Cooking classes

Grandma's kitchen is very large, and the entire property is beautifully decorated, making it great for taking photos. You could say it's a small trendy photo spot. There are multiple classes going on at the same time, but each area is so well organized that they don't disturb each other at all. The instructor explains everything in Chinese throughout the session, making communication very easy. The class is not just about learning how to cook; it starts with a tour of the garden to introduce various herbs and plants, helping us understand common ingredients used in Thai cuisine, which is very interesting. This time, we learned to make Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai, and Khao Soi (Northern Thai curry noodles). Every dish is taught step-by-step, and there is a great sense of accomplishment after making it yourself. Free drinking water, a specialty drink, and mango sticky rice are also provided on-site, offering a very generous experience. Most importantly, you have to eat everything you cook at the end 😂 So if you're taking the morning class, I really recommend eating a light breakfast and saving room! Overall, it's a complete experience with a beautiful environment and an instructor who speaks great Chinese. You get to learn Thai cooking while understanding local herbs and food culture. The cooking class experience was excellent. The market tour guide explained everything very clearly, and our instructor, Mai, was great at creating a fun atmosphere, so everyone had a wonderful time. The food portions were very generous; I recommend bringing a food container to take the dessert back to your hotel to enjoy at your leisure. Also, it's definitely worth paying extra for the air-conditioned room because there are mosquitoes outdoors, and it gets a bit warm after cooking. Enjoying the food in an air-conditioned room is the smart choice! The only downside was that the transfer vehicle didn't have air conditioning, and the staff kept taking photos of us but never shared them. I tried contacting them via email and Facebook Messenger, but received no response. I had assumed that since the staff were taking so many pictures, I didn't need to take many of my family for souvenirs, and now I regret not having those photos. It's a real shame that I can't retrieve them!

Our guide, Ploy brought us to the wet market for some introduction to the ingredient. Then we went to the cooking school, cut some leaves from their garden and begin cooking. The staffs prepped all the ingredient for us, with some minimal cutting, pounding and mixing of ingredients, then begins the cooking. The cooking itself was fast paced cause you cannot let it burn, so you need to catch up fast, but it’s definitely manageable. Overall, it’s an amazing experience to eat what we’ve prepared! Huge kudos to the staffs and chefs there, will definitely come again! Now I can go back home and cook for my loved ones, with the recipe provided!

So tasty! 😍 Jia, Nene and the friendly team made it a really enjoyable experience. We could choose out of a big variety of dishes to create our own menu - with vegetarian option. The ingredients are all fresh and we could see how they grow in the garden. The cooking was very well organised and clean. Good price too, I can absolutely recommend the cooking course 😋

Instructor was funny and engaging! We learnt 11 dishes that night and got to eat and cook at the same time. We are going to recreate some of the simpler dishes back home.

Highly recommend! We weren't in the pickup service area, so we made our way to the market on time. The chef was cheerful and kind! At the market, they introduced us to delicious foods and let us smell the ingredients for the dishes we'd be making, teaching us in a fun way! After about 10 minutes of free time at the market, we moved to a cool, air-conditioned van. Oh, that air conditioning was a lifesaver! The cooking class took place at the chef's house, which didn't have air conditioning but had about four fans. Before we started cooking, the chef even bought us some delicious snacks from the market to try! We made a total of five dishes: the four we chose, plus mango sticky rice. We cooked one dish, tasted it, then moved on to the next. I was surprisingly full, so I barely touched the curry... The ingredient prep area and the cooking area (with flames) were separate. The cooking area was outdoors, so it was quite hot. It might have been even hotter because we visited during a humid period... Still, it was a lot of fun. We could adjust ingredients to our liking, and even though everyone chose different dishes, the chef patiently guided us step-by-step. My friends and I went, and everyone was very satisfied! When it was over, the chef even arranged a taxi for us, so we got back very comfortably. The chef was great, and learning to cook and tasting the food was really enjoyable. I highly recommend this experience if you're in Chiang Mai!

I enjoyed the class very much, teacher Aim was really funny and nice. The environment of the cooking center was really nice and beautiful. If you book the morning class, you can do kayaking or just chilling along the water after the cooking class.

We really had the best experience. We spent the day learning authentic Thai dishes, fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and lots of technique. We really enjoyed cooking and learning about Thai dishes. Definitely a must-try experience if you love Thai food.
