Baan Farm Thai Cooking School in Chiang Mai with Merket Tour

A very complete Thai cooking experience. The class started with a local market visit, where we learned about fresh Thai ingredients and what to look for when buying them. After that, we went back to Baan Farm to pick fresh ingredients ourselves before cooking. We cooked a wide variety of Thai dishes, including curry, soup, stir fried dishes, and dessert. The instructors explained everything clearly and guided us step by step while keeping the session relaxed and hands on. We were welcomed with blue butterfly pea tea, which was a nice touch. Portions were so generous, the setting was peaceful, and the whole experience felt authentic and well organized. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to learn real Thai cooking.

The day began with a visit to a local market, where our instructor, Miss Poly, walked us through the vibrant stalls, introducing us to Thai herbs, spices, and fresh produce. I learned how to tell the difference between various types of basil, chilies, and curries, and got to taste a few unique ingredients right there in the market. We headed to the farm itself—a peaceful, scenic setting surrounded by greenery and traditional Thai charm. The cooking area was well-organized and spotless, with individual stations for each participant. We cooked several classic Thai dishes from scratch—like Pad Thai, Green Curry, and Mango Sticky Rice—using ingredients we had just learned about at the market. I loved that everything was hands-on; I got to grind curry paste with a mortar and pestle, adjust flavors to my liking. The best part, was enjoying the meal we’d cooked ourselves. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and the pride of having made it all from start to finish made it even better!

It was a perfect experience. Pim was very kind, friendly, and explained everything very clearly. They pick you up at the hotel, then take you to the market, and before cooking, you gather the ingredients in the school's small garden. We would recommend this experience 100%. Experience:

This was the most amazing meal I had in Thailand so far.. and I cooked it! Pin was our driver/teacher and she spoke perfect English and was able to communicate very well with us. The tour started with a tour of a local market where we were able to try local fruits and explore for a little bit. Then we drove to the farm/cooking school and picked out our own ingredients for the dishes we were about to cook. I love that they pre-chop/cut everything for you in the interest of time, and all you have to do is worry about the actual cooking part. My masterpiece was the shrimp pad thai, I am bragging to my friends that I made better pad Thai than the famous local Thai restaurant we frequent in Vegas. As someone who's terrible in the kitchen 😂, this experience was really great and very safe. It was also super convenient to do this on a rainy day, with pickup and drop-off service and free fruit. I ate until I was absolutely stuffed. This was the first time I've ever felt the joy of cooking!

This was an amazing experience! Booking this course through Klook was so easy and convenient. The pick-up from the hotel was great. The cooking instructor explained every step in detail, starting from shopping at the market, selecting vegetables and fruits, and carefully explaining the cooking methods to all the students. I learned so many cooking tips from here. The venue and preparation were professional. My daughter, who was taking the class for the first time, was very impressed and it made her want to cook for herself more often. Thank you for such a great course!

went for the morning class and Ploy (the instructor) picked us up from our hotel and drove us to the market where we were introduced to some of the local fruits, vegetables and some of the ingredients that we would be using for class. we also could pick some chilli, limes, sweet basil and limes at the farm right by the cooking school. we made 5 dishes in total, I really enjoyed making the paste for the curry dish. instructors were friendly and gave clear instructions. however, as some of us chose different dishes to make, it can be messy at times especially during the stir fry dish when we all had different ingredients to add. nevertheless, a fun experience overall :)

The team were great, very clear with instructions and communication from pick up to drop off, showed good humour and catered to my poor spice level as much as possible! Ingredients and equipment were of top standard. We got to try different locally grown or made items from the market. The team eve. took photos of us whilst we cooked so we had memories to treasure. Couldn't recommend enough.

The cooking class was very fun 😊. You got to cook a lot of dishes and enjoy them afterwards. We were so full after the class that we asked almost half of the dishes we cooked to be placed in take out boxes so that we could enjoy them in the hotel. The instructions were easy enough to follow and it was really helpful that most of the ingredients were already prepared beforehand to minimize the preparation time. This class is a must when visiting Chiang Mai and you should definitely come hungry before taking it because I assure you that you'll leave with a full stomach 😄
