What to expect
Part of the rich culture of Thailand is ingrained in all its delicious traditional dishes. In this activity, join a fun and informative tour that will take you on a local market trip where you'll source all your ingredients for your scheduled cooking class! Choose either a morning or evening course and embark on a journey that will introduce you to the Akha people - a community that immigrated to Thailand in the 1900's - as well as their traditions and a combination of both Thai and Akha cuisine. In the cooking course, you'll create 10 delicious dishes that you will get to eat after the session. During your meal, stuff yourself silly with the soup, spring rolls, stir fry dishes, and more, straight from your kitchen station. If you're the type to eat the food rather than cook it yourself, you can join a simple half day market tour, where you'll get to try an array of Thai dishes and traditional street food as you go.

Coach: Two excellent teachers took us to the market where we sampled a variety of ingredients and learned many new things. While cooking, they constantly monitored each student's progress and provided thoughtful assistance, allowing us to prepare dishes we loved. Location: The place was very clean and spacious, with a full range of kitchen utensils. They continuously provided us with clean dishes, making for a truly comfortable cooking experience. Experience: Excellent! The teachers not only taught us how to cook but also shared cultural insights. They were very dedicated, and I hope they continue to thrive.
We had a wonderful afternoon and evening at the Thai Akha Kitchen Cooking Class. We prepared many delicious dishes and got an opportunity to use sharp knifes and the wok. Although we were not quite hungry and just came from a sightseeing in scorching heat and beyond my stomach issues we both enjoyed it, my advice is to come hungry as portions get quite generous. You also control how spicy it gets so we both enjoyed in the comfortable zone, but you can make it very hot. We both recommend it, it was wonderful. Thank you.
We attended a cooking class featuring 11 traditional Thai dishes in a beautifully clean and organized kitchen and classroom. The environment was as delightful as the cuisine. Our wonderful instructor guided us efficiently through each recipe, making the learning process enjoyable and informative. The dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The option to purchase beer or wine added to the experience, making it feel like a true culinary journey. Highly recommended for anyone looking to dive into Thai cooking in a fun, educational, and delicious way.
We really enjoyed our Thai Akha cooking class experience from the market tour to the cooking itself, everything was smooth and seamless. Sandy our cooking teacher was very entertaining and gave us lots of historical info about Akha people. I highly recommend this to anyone!
Excellent cooking class! We made 10 small dishes, some by ourselves and others in groups with the teacher! It was really delicious and it allowed us to learn about the Akka culture. The classroom is really beautiful, the teacher attentive and interesting. She speaks very good English. I am vegetarian and the meal was able to adapt without problem! We recommend 100%!
We had a blast learning to cook Thai food. In total, we cooked four dishes each and were stuffed by the end of the day. Our teacher, was very helpful and gave clear instructions, in very good English!! Would definitely recommend Thai Akha kitchen Studio.
Very charming female instrcutor. classmate from uk, new zealand, argentina, brasil, australia etc. Very fun night. Recommand to ppl who stay chiang mai longer then 3nights. The class take almost 4hrs. They come to pick up at hotel sharp 430pm
The nine dishes are very filling. You can choose the main course, soup, dessert, and salad you want. The method is to cook 2-3 dishes and then continue cooking after eating. The process is very interesting, and the lecturer explains it carefully. The various ingredients also explain the difference between akha and ordinary Thai food. The ingredients are all prepared, and you only need to simply cut the vegetables, add seasonings and stir-fry.
This cooking class is one of the most fun activities I had while in Chiang Mai. Our teacher was very energetic and passionate about food and was able to learn a lot of Thai dishes. A cookbook is also provided to help me remember. I loved the market tour as well and we were able to sample a lot of local ingredients. Overall, I highly recommend this activity to anyone traveling to Chiang Mai.
Facility is clean, portion of food is just nice with many varieties. Lots of learning and new experiences. Must try if you are in ChiangMai
