Such a cute encounter with the little pigs! The ambiance was great, and the location is convenient since it's inside the mall. You can also stroll around and explore the area afterward.

This tour offers high-quality yet reasonably priced drinks and seafood, with stunning sea views from Cape Kamui (weather permitting 🤞). The pace of the tour is relaxed. Please note that some attractions do not have baby-friendly facilities, so this tour is more suitable for adults and children who can take care of themselves. The whisky distillery, in particular, offers a wealth of information and a wide selection of souvenirs; it would be ideal to skip the final stop at the outlet and spend a little more time at the distillery instead. Many thanks to the tour guide for their professional service!

The tour guide, Hide-san, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and well-spoken. He shared a lot about the spots we visited and about Sapporo and Japan in general. He showed great patience and provided the best of service. It also started to rain mid-tour and I appreciated that he had an umbrella.

We loved this tour! It was the perfect mix of delicious food, local culture, and hidden spots we would never have found by ourselves. We had the best soup curry, played gachapon, ate delicious dango as sweets, and even took a ride at the giant Ferris wheel 🎡✨ Our guide Tsuru explained everything in a fun and easy way and made the experience feel very personal and authentic. It was a wonderful way to experience Sapporo. Thank you Tsuru!

This Yoichi and Otaru day trip offered a truly special experience! Traveling with the guide by subway and bus, it felt less like a typical tour bus itinerary and more like navigating the streets and alleys as a local, allowing for a deeper immersion into Hokkaido's daily life and local atmosphere. The itinerary included visits to a whiskey distillery and a sake brewery, where we not only learned about the brewing process but also witnessed the Japanese artisans' unwavering commitment to quality. Upon arriving in scenic Otaru, we even got to handcraft our own unique music boxes, creating one-of-a-kind travel souvenirs. Overall, the itinerary was rich in content and full of unique features, combining culture, cuisine, and hands-on experiences. It was incredibly rewarding and a truly unforgettable journey, highly recommended for travelers looking to explore Hokkaido in depth!

The fortune god coach is so responsible!!! I didn't have high expectations for this course because I thought that with a group of 8 people and one coach responsible for 8 people, how attentive could they be? But!!!! Unexpectedly, it was completely the opposite. The coach was very attentive and responsible, and very friendly to complete beginners. If some students were afraid to ski down a steep slope, he would ask if anyone was afraid to ski and raise their hand, and he would take us down. He paid attention to the situation of each student and also asked if students needed help. The beginner slopes at Teine Ski Resort are quite friendly for beginners. Learning to ski on two planks is quite fast. If you pay attention to the coach's instructions, you can learn the basics of braking. The morning instruction is 2 hours, and in the afternoon you can go on the slopes. This course is quite worthwhile.

Our teacher Arya is very skilled, professional and generally awesome! She was very patient with us and she really taught us how to ski and was very hands on. She helped us get up when we fell down and I was surprised how to strong she was. She took great pics of us as well and we very much enjoyed our skiing day! Thank you so much to all the staff!

The local travel agency can communicate in Chinese and English via WhatsApp and WeChat. If Klook is out of tickets, you can also inquire with them. The local reception service is good, but they primarily communicate in Japanese with a little English.

What to know before visiting Hokkaido

Top Attractions in Hokkaido

Sapporo Snow Festival

If you visit Hokkaido in February, you can see giant ice and snow sculptures at the famous Sapporo Snow Festival. It’s one of Japan’s biggest winter events and turns the city into a winter wonderland filled with ice sculptures, music, food stalls, and fun activities.

Niseko Ski Resort

In Hokkaido, Niseko is the best place for skiing and snowboarding. You’ll love the soft powder snow, beautiful mountain views, and cozy hot springs after a day on the slopes.

Furano Flower Fields

During summer, Hokkaido’s Furano area turns into a rainbow of colors with lavender, cherry blossoms, and flower fields. It’s a perfect spot for photos and a relaxing walk through nature.

Otaru Canal

In the coastal town of Otaru, you can walk along the charming Otaru Canal lined with old warehouses and soft lantern lights at night. It’s especially romantic in winter when covered with snow.

Shirogane Blue Pond (Biei)

You’ll be amazed by the bright turquoise water of the Blue Pond in Biei, Hokkaido. It changes color with the light and looks stunning in every season.

Noboribetsu Onsen

For relaxation, visit Noboribetsu Onsen, Hokkaido’s most famous hot spring town. You can soak in mineral-rich baths and explore “Hell Valley,” a volcanic area with steaming vents and bubbling pools.

Tips before visiting Hokkaido

1. Dress for the season

Winters in Hokkaido are long, cold, and snowy, so pack layers, thermal wear, and waterproof boots to stay warm. Summers are mild but can still be cool at night, especially in the mountains.

2. Try local food

Hokkaido is famous for its fresh seafood, rich ramen, and creamy dairy products. Be sure to visit local markets or food stalls to taste specialties like crab, sea urchin, and soft-serve ice cream.

3. Use the JR Pass

The JR Hokkaido Rail Pass makes traveling between cities like Sapporo, Otaru, and Hakodate affordable and easy. It’s a great way to see scenic routes without worrying about car rentals or snow driving.

4. Book early in winter

Ski resorts like Niseko, Furano, and Rusutsu get fully booked months in advance during the snow season. Plan ahead for accommodations, lift passes, and transport to secure the best deals.
