Transport in Hokkaido

I used the JR Hokkaido Furano Pass during my summer trip, and it was definitely worth it. It made traveling between Furano, Biei, and Asahikawa easy without buying separate tickets. The trains were clean, comfortable, and always on time. The scenery was the best part. Every ride offered beautiful views of flower fields, forests, rivers, and mountains, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destinations. The pass also gave me the freedom to explore without worrying about transportation costs. The only downside is that train services in rural Hokkaido are limited, so careful planning is necessary. Some attractions are also a bit far from the stations and may require a bus, bicycle, or a longer walk. Overall, the JR Hokkaido Furano Pass offers great value and is a convenient way to experience the beauty of central Hokkaido. I would happily use it again.

love the convenience with JR pass as it connects all the places of interest via Shinkansen. This trip's itinerary is: Day 1: Narita Airport to Tokyo Station via Narita Express (N'EX), then transfer to the Shinkansen to Yamagata Station. Day 2: Yamagata → Shinjo → Oishida → Yamagata. Originally planned to take a boat tour on the Mogami River, but due to heavy snow, we turned back and went to Ginzan Onsen. Day 3: Took the cable car to Zao in the morning, then took the Shinkansen in the afternoon from Yamagata → Fukushima → Sendai → Tazawako. Day 4: Rode the Tazawako Lake Loop Bus, then took the train from Tazawako → Morioka → Shin-Aomori (Shin-Aomori → Aomori section of the JR line was suspended due to heavy snow, so we took a bus into the city). Day 5: Sightseeing in Aomori city. Shin-Aomori → Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto → Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto → Hakodate (JR Pass, Hakodate Liner is also usable!). Took the cable car up Mount Hakodate to see the night view. Day 6: Strolled around Hakodate city. Hakodate → Toya (Hokuto Limited Express) → Toya Ekimae → Lake Toya Onsen (bus). Enjoyed the Lake Toya Winter Festival Illumination and Musical Fireworks at night, it was incredibly beautiful.

The "Free Hong Kong Mail" for the voucher was delivered by SF Express. I placed the order today (Monday) and received it the next day (Tuesday), which is extremely efficient. The last time I visited Hokkaido via Sapporo Airport, I deliberately skipped Hakodate because taking the Hokkaido Shinkansen from Shin-Aomori Station to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station, then transferring to the JR Hakodate Main Line to Hakodate Station, only takes about 1.5 hours. This is much more convenient than the over 3.5-hour journey from Sapporo to Hakodate. For a relaxed trip for middle-aged travelers, the route Sendai - Aomori - Hakodate - Hachinohe - Sendai, using a JR Pass to reserve seats for free at the designated seat ticket machines, allows you to enjoy leisurely times and various delicious foods. It's very cost-effective and worthwhile.

It's only available for JR lines, but it was great for traveling to the airport, Sapporo, Otaru, and Noboribetsu. However, when I went, Sapporo Station was incredibly crowded, possibly due to heavy snow, and there were quite a few train delays..ㅠ

It was very convenient to avail this service. Days before our trip, someone chatted me to confirm our itinerary (we chose Route B but added Furano Cheese Factory to start), and recommended times to meet the service maximum time. I was very impressed with Next Tour's service for a 10-hour private Fuji tour. The team's coordination was excellent; they created a chat group in advance to confirm the itinerary and contact numbers. Our driver, Mr. Shrestha, arrived before the scheduled time, was very polite, and drove smoothly and safely. Even though it rained on the day of our tour and the weather wasn't ideal, making it difficult to see Mount Fuji clearly, Mr. Shrestha made an effort to take care of us and helped us check in at various spots. He communicated well in English, which made the trip very smooth. I highly recommend this service for anyone traveling to Japan with family or friends.

We booked with the same company for three days and we were assigned the same driver, Jun-san. He spoke English well, was punctual (early even) and provided us with helpful information. The vehicle was comfortable and Jun-san drove safely. We are glad we booked a private car and driver for our trips to Furano, Otaru and the outskirts of Sapporo. The convenience, time and energy saved was well worth the cost.
