Transport in Hokkaido

I used the JR Hokkaido Furano Pass during my summer trip, and it was definitely worth it. It made traveling between Furano, Biei, and Asahikawa easy without buying separate tickets. The trains were clean, comfortable, and always on time. The scenery was the best part. Every ride offered beautiful views of flower fields, forests, rivers, and mountains, making the journey just as enjoyable as the destinations. The pass also gave me the freedom to explore without worrying about transportation costs. The only downside is that train services in rural Hokkaido are limited, so careful planning is necessary. Some attractions are also a bit far from the stations and may require a bus, bicycle, or a longer walk. Overall, the JR Hokkaido Furano Pass offers great value and is a convenient way to experience the beauty of central Hokkaido. I would happily use it again.

*Very convenient and good value for Hokkaido!* This JR Hokkaido Sapporo-Furano Area Pass is super convenient. It covers the airport transfer (New Chitose to Sapporo return) so it already pays for itself. The 4-day pass is perfect for exploring central Hokkaido - I went to Furano, Biei, and Otaru. Very relaxing trip, great for enjoying the scenery and chilling. I was lucky to catch a special train on its last run, which was a nice surprise! I did a flexible 4-day itinerary, 2 days for places a bit further (Furano/Biei) and 2 days closer to Sapporo/Otaru. The timing was just right, not too rushed. Good price and hassle-free, no need to buy tickets one by one. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to explore the Sapporo area easily!

we redeemed the pass at Sapporo station and reserved the tickets for several trips as well. staff there are very helpful. we used the tickets to travel from Sapporo to Hakodate, Aomori, Hirosaki, Akita and Tokyo. very good journey and thanks KLook for providing such a great value ticket 👍

The "Free Hong Kong Mail" for the voucher was delivered by SF Express. I placed the order today (Monday) and received it the next day (Tuesday), which is extremely efficient. The last time I visited Hokkaido via Sapporo Airport, I deliberately skipped Hakodate because taking the Hokkaido Shinkansen from Shin-Aomori Station to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station, then transferring to the JR Hakodate Main Line to Hakodate Station, only takes about 1.5 hours. This is much more convenient than the over 3.5-hour journey from Sapporo to Hakodate. For a relaxed trip for middle-aged travelers, the route Sendai - Aomori - Hakodate - Hachinohe - Sendai, using a JR Pass to reserve seats for free at the designated seat ticket machines, allows you to enjoy leisurely times and various delicious foods. It's very cost-effective and worthwhile.

Appreciate that there are night options for the shuttle bus for flights coming in late, however note that the bus does not wait for more than 10mins past the stated departure time. My flight arrived 1h late, but no alternative arrangements were proposed by the bus company. I was just lucky that I was able to run with my luggage to make it to the bus on time.

The meeting point at the airport was a little bit hard to spot but it's probably because it's our first time there. Staff was really nice and helpful. Bus was on schedule.

It was a pleasant experience. The pickup location was convenient and easy to find. The driver was polite and carefully helped with our luggage. The tour bus was very comfortable, allowing us to enjoy the scenery along the way. We stopped once at a rest area so we could use the restroom. Upon arrival at our destination, the hotel staff warmly welcomed us. If you're not driving yourself, this bus is definitely the ideal choice for traveling from Sapporo to Tomamu.

I really like Japan's rail passes; they're so convenient. As long as you plan your itinerary before your trip, the passes offer excellent value. This 4-day pass allowed me to visit Noboribetsu, Otaru, Shiraoi, and Chitose (the Shikotsu Lake bus portion was paid separately), all of which are incredibly beautiful places.
