Fantastic 5.0
We had the most wonderful walking night tour of Gion with our guide Mariko. Mariko was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions and allowed us to have time for breaks and photos. She took us to places we would not have known about, true hidden gems! It was such a great time to see Gion, without all the masses of tourists and to have Mariko’s recommendations on the way and after our tour finished. A very memorable and enjoyable experience. Thank you so much Mariko san!

great experience! the guide Ayuri was the sweetest and funniest! she was knowledgeable and even gave us tips on Japanese alphabet. the chef was very good and took time teaching with Ayuri as translator. All supplies were good. I was thrilled at the Ramen I made and ate so quickly and easily! the broth and other ingredients were delicious! it was a bit small in the restaurant but typical for Japan. I would definitely book again!

My husband and I had so much fun making ramen! It was just the two our us with our instructor, so we were able to ask questions, and actually have a chat with him too! instructor: our instructor was so nice! He was able to answer any questions that we had, and also asked us questions too! location: the location of the actual class was a little difficult to find, but we stood outside the restaurant and asked someone, and they brought us to the right place. We got to eat the ramen at the actual restaurant though!

These guys are absolutely awesome! They not only accommodated to a change of my reservation on the same day- but they made sure to bring the whole experience!! They were very kind, personable and funny! There was no shortage in ensuring that memories were made and captured on your device for safekeeping! Not even to say the food was INCREDIBLE! We didn’t even get to photograph it- it was so good! Definently gives a newfound perspective on the art of ramen all around!

Fantastic 5.0
This was an absolute gem of an experience! getting to learn and make wagashi first hand and try some of the techniques was really fun. Then getting to eat them with tea after made it even better. The instructor was brilliant and explained things perfectly and in such a way that we (me, my wife, and 9 year old) could all feel confident in making the sweets. We plan to take a private class to learn more on our next trip!

Tips Before Visiting Kyoto, Japan

1. Plan Your Trip Around the Seasons

Kyoto changes with every season. Spring brings cherry blossoms, while autumn paints the city in red and gold. These are popular times, so book your hotel early. Winter is quiet and peaceful, while summer is lively with festivals like Gion Matsuri and Daimonji.

2. Be Respectful of Geisha (Geiko)

In the famous geisha district, you may see geiko or maiko (apprentice geisha) walking to appointments. They are not tourist attractions, so please don’t follow or stop them for photos. For a respectful look into geisha culture, join a guided tour or attend a performance.
