Kyoto Amanohashidate & Ine Funaya & Ine Bay Scenic Day Trip (Departing from Osaka or Kyoto)

The day before, our tour guide, Akira-san, created a Line group to easily communicate details. We met at 7:45 AM and departed at 8:00 AM. After a 2.5-hour drive, we arrived at Amanohashidate. Taking the single-person chairlift was a unique experience. The view from the top was absolutely stunning; you could see the 'flying dragon' appearing to coil over the sea. The weather was clear, and after spending less than an hour there, we went down to explore the very short shopping street (this part took about 2 hours). Next, we headed to Ine Funaya to take a boat tour. On the boat, we could feed seagulls and eagles (with snacks similar to Taiwan's 'Shrimp Crackers,' costing 100 yen per pack). The experience of feeding them while surrounded by the boathouses was a lot of fun (this part took about 1 hour). The third stop was another viewpoint for the boathouses, offering a closer look (you could enjoy a drink or meal at the cafe there), which was very relaxing (this part also took 1 hour). Then, it was a 2.5-hour drive back. For me, having a car and someone to guide the tour made it so convenient! Moreover, Akira-san was very responsible and led the entire trip perfectly (the cooperation of the group members was also important). All in all, I was very satisfied with this day trip to Amanohashidate and Ine Funaya.

Our tour guide, Ben, was incredibly professional. With both Chinese and English-speaking tourists in our group, he alternated between the two languages for explanations and even sang enka for us. He was a fantastic guide! This tour allowed us to choose between Osaka or Kyoto for pickup and drop-off. We opted for pickup in Kyoto and drop-off in Osaka, which saved us a significant amount on transportation costs – very economical. Regarding the itinerary, Ine Bay was absolutely stunning; the weather was beautiful, and the sea was incredibly blue. The famous cafe there had a very long line, so we didn't go, feeling we didn't have enough time. Instead, we found a small, uncrowded shop nearby with equally beautiful views. Feeding the seagulls was also a lot of fun; you can hold shrimp crackers high in your hand, and the seagulls will come and eat them. It doesn't hurt much if they peck you, but you do need to watch out for eagles. For Amanohashidate, I highly recommend taking the single-person chairlift; it's much more enjoyable, and the scenery is breathtaking. At the top, there are some recreational facilities, with the bicycle ride being the most recommended due to the excellent views. However, you might need to consider the waiting time. We only had about two hours here, and just queuing for the bicycles took 40 minutes. There was also a bit of a wait for the return chairlift, so there wasn't much time left for eating. I felt that many people riding the bikes were inconsiderate; despite being told not to stop, many would stop in scenic spots to take photos. Stopping for 10 seconds is one thing, but stopping for several minutes caused a complete bottleneck behind them. Overly egregious cases were pulled back by staff, but most were ignored, which contributed to the long wait times. In conclusion, although the travel time was quite long, roughly half of the total time was spent on the road and half at the attractions, making the schedule a bit tight. However, for independent travelers who aren't driving, being able to visit two famous attractions in one trip is incredibly convenient and well worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this tour.

I was extremely satisfied with the overall experience of the "Kyoto Amanohashidate, Ine Funaya & Ine Bay Scenic Day Tour"! Everything from the itinerary planning and transportation to the attraction introductions went smoothly. As a first-time visitor to Amanohashidate and Ine, I didn't have to worry about transportation, allowing me to easily enjoy the scenery along the way. I especially want to commend our tour guide, Amy. Her explanations throughout the trip were very detailed. She didn't just simply introduce the sights; she also shared local characteristics, historical culture, and small details to pay attention to while visiting, which helped us understand each place better while enjoying the views. She was also very patient in answering questions and clearly explained meeting times and locations, which made us feel very at ease. The scenery at Amanohashidate was truly beautiful, even more stunning in person than in photos. Ine Funaya was a stop I was really looking forward to; the atmosphere of the seaside town was very pleasant, and the sight of the boathouses lined up along the coast had a unique Japanese charm, making for great photos. The entire day's itinerary was well-packed but never felt rushed or chaotic. The transportation was also very convenient. For independent travelers, it saves time researching transfers and taking public transport, allowing you to visit several more distant attractions in one day, offering great value for money. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-star recommendation for Akira! Today's day trip to northern Kyoto was truly worthwhile! We arrived at Ine Funaya in the morning and climbed to the observation deck to overlook the entire Ine Bay. Although the seaside cafe I was looking forward to was closed, standing outside and drinking a bottle of iced barley tea, the million-dollar ocean view was still breathtaking, so beautiful that I didn't want to leave. Next, we took a boat cruise to feed the seagulls, experiencing the awe of seagulls soaring up close. In the afternoon, we visited Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three most scenic views. I highly recommend taking the cable car; I particularly enjoyed the descent, admiring the 'Flying Dragon View' and experiencing the classic 'viewing through your legs.' Then, we strolled through Chionji Temple, the revolving bridge, and the sandbar. Every stop was relaxing and therapeutic. I especially want to highly recommend our guide, Akira! If you only speak Chinese, you really don't need to worry at all. Akira is very fluent in Chinese. He proactively contacted us the day before departure to remind us of meeting information and important notes, which made us feel very at ease. During the trip, in addition to providing detailed explanations of the attractions, he also shared many practical travel tips, photo spots, and food recommendations, making the entire trip incredibly rewarding. What's even better is that the pace of the entire itinerary was perfectly managed. We never felt rushed; instead, everyone could leisurely enjoy the scenery and take photos at their own pace, truly savoring the trip rather than just rushing through it. If I have the chance to visit Japan again, or if friends want to take a day trip to the Kyoto suburbs, I will definitely recommend Akira and choose his tour again! We traveled from Kyoto on June 19, 2026, and went straight to Ine. Overall, we were very impressed! It was a tour that offered a lot of freedom. Buying this tour felt like it was a mediator taking us to our destination, and all we had to do was manage our time to meet the guide's schedule. Our guide, Oscar, even recommended restaurants and cafes in Ine in our LINE group. We walked around Ine for about an hour. There were many cute cafes by the sea. The seasonal cake at Ine Cafe was absolutely delicious! We really enjoyed the boat trip to see the birds because there were so many of them, and they were very cooperative. After that, we went to Amanohashidate. We spent about two and a half hours there, enjoying the views and the atmosphere. There are also restaurants there. Afterward, we headed back, and our trip concluded in Osaka. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall, we were very impressed! The guide was very helpful, kind, and relaxed, making it feel like a friend was giving us recommendations. For anyone still debating whether to go on their own or buy a tour, we recommend buying a tour. Whether going or returning, we could just sleep comfortably in the car until we reached our destination, and along the way, we could enjoy the atmosphere of the villages.

I chose this itinerary because we didn't depart from Nihonbashi until 8 AM, so there was no pressure of a rushed journey. Along the way, our guide Oscar meticulously introduced us to the scenery, and after we disembarked, he thoughtfully shared detailed information and map links in our LINE group. It was very considerate. Upon arriving at Ine, known as Japan's Sun Moon Lake, we had plenty of time to leisurely choose a cafe to sit at (the food at INE CAFE was very ordinary), with no rush at all. When taking the boat tour, I highly recommend buying a bag of shrimp crackers to feed the seagulls—they fly very close to people, and might even land directly on your head, offering excellent photo opportunities! Just be careful not to startle them. Also, keep an eye out for eagles; they are much fiercer than seagulls. Finally, we arrived at Amanohashidate, which is listed as one of Japan's three most scenic views, and it certainly lived up to its reputation—absolutely stunning! We also experienced the unique single-person chairlift, which was a lot of fun and provided a perfect end to the day.

Yuna was our tour guide, and she did great! She was bilingual, personable, professional, and was punctual with the itenerary! Overall, we wish we had more time on the beach and sky rides. However, with the price and quality service of our guide, it’s hard to find a better day trip in Kyoto, Japan! P.S. Even though the details do not say it, the tour guides do support WhatsApp. So, it was great to be notified promptly and frequently throughout the day and day before about necessary details!

I had such a great day on this day trip! I’m really glad I chose to do it as an organised tour – it made everything so easy and convenient! We had plenty of time to walk around Ine and Amanohashidate. The boat trip lasted about 30 minutes and was a lot of fun as well. I would definitely recommend booking this day trip if you’re interested in visiting Ine and Amanohashidate. The guide and driver were both great! We did leave about 15 minutes late because some passengers arrived late. I thought that was a bit inconsiderate, as the information clearly stated that we would leave at 9:00 a.m. and that everyone should be there by 8:45 a.m. Luckily, it didn’t affect the trip in the end, and we still had plenty of time at every stop. One tip: the meeting point can be a little tricky to find, so make sure you arrive early ;-) Communication with the guide was perfect. We received an email with all the information a day before. On the day itself he communicated with us via WhatsApp.

I booked this tour last minute, the day before. The tour guide contacted me the night before to confirm the meeting point. Our guide, Ellen Wang, was very attentive to every traveler. For the seagull feeding activity, she thoughtfully prepared and personally provided seagull food to each of us. She paid close attention to every aspect and need of the tour. Feeding the seagulls was a lot of fun, and the boat house tour offered a glimpse into different aspects of Japanese culture. The cable car ride during the Amanohashidate tour was especially enjoyable, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful—definitely worth visiting! Ellen Wang also thoughtfully sent individual messages with meeting times and recommended attractions near Amanohashidate. Her meticulous service made our family's trip fun and happy. The guide's attentive and excellent service is highly recommended.
