Day Trip to Amanohashidate & Ine no Funaya & Miyama Thatched Village in the Sea of Kyoto (Departure from Osaka or Kyoto)

Amazing day trip and one of the highlights of my Kyoto visit! Ine Village was beautiful and the ferry ride where we fed the seagulls was so much fun. Amanohashidate had stunning views, a scenic chairlift ride, and incredibly blue water. Miyama’s traditional thatched-roof houses were also fascinating to see and offered a completely different side of Japan. A special thanks to our guide, Amy, who was friendly, organized, and went above and beyond throughout the day. She shared interesting information, helped take photos, brought snacks, wrote our names in Japanese, and gave us souvenir stamp cards, which made the experience feel very personal. The tour was excellent value for money considering transportation, guiding, and the number of places covered. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore beyond Kyoto city!

This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! The tour to Ine Bay and Amanohashidate was incredibly well organised, with breathtaking scenery and plenty of time to enjoy each stop. Every location was absolutely beautiful, and the whole day ran smoothly from start to finish. What truly made this experience unforgettable, though, was our guide, Amy. She was genuinely the best tour guide we could have asked for—so kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help. She shared interesting facts throughout the day, kept everything organised, and made everyone feel welcome. Her positive energy and warm personality made the entire trip even more enjoyable. She is an absolute sweetheart and someone who clearly loves what she does. If you’re looking for a day trip from Kyoto, I couldn’t recommend this tour more. Amazing destinations, excellent organisation, and an outstanding guide. Thank you, Amy, for making such a memorable day!

Many thanks to our tour guide John and the two drivers on July 28th! Throughout the trip, John was incredibly thoughtful, sharing the pick-up locations and times for each stop via WhatsApp, complete with maps. This made things very convenient and reassuring for us tourists. At each attraction, he meticulously introduced the local history and unique features. The scenery at all the places we visited was absolutely beautiful: first, we took a boat cruise in Ine Bay, admiring the captivating Ine Funaya boathouses, which looked like they were straight out of a painting. Next, we visited Amanohashidate, one of Japan's three most scenic views. Finally, we were fortunate enough to encounter the misty, fairytale-like Miyama thatched-roof village. Each spot was truly worth spending an entire day exploring and appreciating. On the winding mountain roads back, John thoughtfully handed out refreshing Miyama milk as a small gift to each tourist. He truly went above and beyond! We are so grateful for such a meticulous and professional guide like John, and we highly recommend this tour!

We had an amazing experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to our wonderful tour guide, Tina! She was friendly, knowledgeable, organized, and made everyone feel comfortable throughout the trip. The destinations were absolutely breathtaking. Ine Funaya was peaceful and picturesque, with its unique waterfront boathouses creating a charming atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Amanohashidate truly lived up to its reputation as one of Japan’s most scenic views. The panoramic scenery was stunning, and the experience of seeing the famous “bridge to heaven” was unforgettable. Finally, Miyama was a beautiful glimpse into traditional rural Japan. Overall, this tour exceeded our expectations. Every destination offered something unique, and Tina made the entire journey informative, fun, and stress-free. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience the beauty and culture of Kyoto’s countryside. Thank you, Tina, for making our trip so memorable!

Our guide, Steven was excellent and patient. He was effectively bilingual (English and Chinese) and we enjoyed his introduction of the various places of attraction. He also treated the tour members Japanese sweet snacks, ranked no. 1 milk in Kansai and Amanohashidate postcard for our keepsake. Although the travelling time took 2.5 hours to the first place of attraction, it was stil worth visiting Ine Bay and Amanohashidate - they were also less crowded. Highly recommend this day trip for those staying in Osaka!

This itinerary was very intense but full of discoveries. The landscapes were incredible and particularly worth seeing. John, our guide, was friendly and shared a lot of information about the different places we visited in both English and Chinese. Many thanks again to him for the complimentary carton of milk from Miyama at the end of the excursion. This gift was much appreciated. I highly recommend this itinerary!

Great tour experience with Frederick! We visited all of the beautiful places- even included 1 additional one (Fishing village itself) during the tour. Frederick is very energetic, kind, fun, and informative. The van that we used were comfortable and the driver was great too. Totally recommended!

If you’re solo traveling or struggle organise tours to off-the-beaten-track places of Japan, this is perfect for you. You can enjoy a reliable & relaxing bus ride to three incredible places. The cruise was the best way to see and discover Ine since you get that wonderful coastal view. Feeding the seagulls was very fun and everyone was laughing a lot. The good thing is you don’t immediately move on after that but do another stop on the main road, where you have time to visit cafes in the boathouses. Amanohshidate was also amazing, from the temple to the local shops and soba restaurants (総本家ちとせ茶屋!!), as well as the chairlift and viewpoint, which you don’t want to miss out on. Finally, the historic Miyama town was truly special and 45 minutes actually was enough to visit the shops, museum and the cosy little café. Steven, the guide, brought lots of positive energy, provided insights on the different places and went beyond that with personal recommendations via the WhatsApp group.

I had such an amazing experience with our tour guide throughout the trip. Mr Lee were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and made everyone feel comfortable from the beginning until the end. What I appreciated most was how organized and thoughtful they were always making sure everyone was okay, gave out miyama milk, and . Thanks to them, the trip became even more memorable and enjoyable.
