Sensoji Temple

Located in Asakusa district, Tokyo, Sensoji Temple, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple, is Tokyo's oldest temple and a sacred spot across Japan, drawing more than 30 million visitors each year. According to legend, over 1,400 years ago during the Edo period, two brothers discovered a statue of Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy, while fishing in the Sumida River. No matter how many times they returned the statue to the water, it kept coming back to them. That's why Sensoji Temple was built nearby in 645, making it the oldest temple in Tokyo and a Shinto shrine dedicated to Kannon. Throughout the year, the temple grounds host exciting events like the Sanja Matsuri festival in May, the Asakusa Samba Carnival in August, and the traditional Hagoita Market, where decorative paddles are sold for a fun game called hanetsuki. We had a great time at our photoshoot in shibuya. Our photographer Manen. utilised the 30 mins efficiently and was very enthusiastic. He was very clear in his directions and posing. They contacted us and gave clear instructions of our meeting spot in a well timed manner. The photos were thoughtfully edited and enhanced the best qualities of the surroundings as well as ourselves. Highly recommend!!

Honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Being a solo traveller in Japan, I wanted to capture some memories of my trip and I’m so glad I booked this photoshoot. From the beginning, everything felt relaxed and comfortable, which made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Not only was the photoshoot amazing, but the photos turned out even better than I expected! You can really see the time, effort and creativity put into every shot. Definitely one of the highlights of my time in Tokyo and something I’ll remember for a long time. Couldn’t recommend enough!

I had a really nice experience. Asakusa is a place with a lot of people, so I was worried about how the pictures would turn out like. However, that was not a problem. I am really satisfied. I will try again for sure.

Fantastic 5.0
We had such a great time with Ale. He was very knowledgeable and we felt like locals at the best spots at the best time of the day to take pictures in iconic spots and sceneries! Since we started our photoshoot at 8:00 am, as suggested by Ale, we had all photo locations to ourselves at Kamakura and Enoshima!! By the time we finished our shoot, we ended at Enoshima which when it started to get PACKED with tourists and visitors — but it was the perfect time to grab early lunch / snacks / visit the shops as everything started to open around 10:30-11:00 AM. Honestly, this was one of the best days of our 10-day Japan trip because we never get to take our pictures as a couple (normally just individual pics), but we got to take beautiful pics that we’ll show our kids someday — all thanks to Ale!! And then we got to experience everything Kamakura and Enoshima had to offer! It was hard to only choose the SIX photos to showcase the MANY pictures that Ale sent us — We are so grateful! Thank you!

What to know before visiting Tokyo

What to do in Tokyo throughout the year

Tokyo draws visitors for observation decks, museums and theme parks, with cultural experiences and guided tours filling out the rest of the mix. Klook booking data show observation decks, museums and theme parks lead volume, and demand rhythm across the year highlights a spring high and an late-summer low. April is notably busier while August sees much quieter booking levels. Travelers choosing between busy-season energy and quieter months face a simple trade-off: decide whether you want festival-like spring crowds or calmer late-summer streets. All figures are from Klook booking data.

Best months to visit and price patterns

Demand peaks in April while August is the quietest month, according to Klook historical booking data; that spring peak often coincides with lively events, and late summer tends to be much calmer. Prices across the year are modestly variable: the priciest month by median price is September and the most affordable month is November, with the typical median hovering around USD 27. When demand and price move together you’ll find both atmosphere and higher median prices; when they diverge, like quieter August with higher median than November, you can time a visit for smaller crowds or lower typical prices. For lower prices and smaller crowds, consider November; for peak-season atmosphere, aim for April.

Month Demand Level Typical Price
January About average USD 28
February About average USD 28
March About average USD 26
April Busier than usual USD 26
May Busier than usual USD 25
June Busier than usual USD 24
July About average USD 27
August Quieter than usual USD 30
September Quieter than usual USD 32
October About average USD 29
November Busier than usual USD 24
December About average USD 24

Demand is bookings in that month compared with a typical month, from historical Klook booking data, grouped into the demand levels above; typical price is the median paid on Klook in that month; prices are shown with their currency code. Based on Klook booking data, July 2025 – June 2026.

Where to stay: price outlook by district

Klook booking data show nightly hotel medians vary across Tokyo districts. The most affordable district is Ikebukuro at typically around USD 95, while the priciest is Shibuya at typically around USD 240, a gap of roughly 60% between them. Cheaper districts like Ikebukuro tend to suit budget-conscious travellers or those happy to prioritise savings over splurge comforts, while priciest districts such as Shibuya fit travellers seeking trendier nightlife and higher-end hotel finishes. These Klook-based medians help set expectations when choosing where to stay.

Tips for travellers from the United States

Most travellers from the United States book ahead by about 11 days, while the earliest planners book around 20 days out, according to Klook booking data. That level of planning means you can still be flexible—many experiences remain bookable a day or two before—but locking in reservations about a week to two weeks ahead is common, and booking earlier is wise for April when demand is higher. Use Klook to compare typical prices and secure the experiences you want; flexible planning works, but early booking pays off in busier months.
