The Fu fu no yu hot springs and the piggy cafe are by far the best part of the trip so far. One of the few places where the staff spoke pretty good English, the facilities were spotless, and there was absolute peace. **IMPORTANT** There is no guide or help for using the hot springs, watch videos and read the signs inside, or follow the steps of a local when entering.

Beautiful journey to get there. Even we get the both indoor and outdoor tickets, I enjoyed the outdoor only. I hope it's more quiet or have a sign to signal 'quiet' at the onsen.

jiang Cheng is the best! She knows a lot of beautiful places to take pictures. Very professional and friendly. she waited for us to be finished for our kimono session. we are family of 4 so it takes time. we love her work for 30 minutes a lot of pictures and different poses with her own props. She also take our pictures at the Yasaka Pagoda so we are comfortable with her already. Highly recommended her!!! :)

This activity was a very good experience. The staff service was excellent. There were many kimono to choose from. We booked the basic set, but it was already very beautiful. If you want a minimalist style, you have to pay extra, and beautiful hairstyles also cost an extra 1650 yen. We added that as well. The hair was done quickly and beautifully. There was someone to help dress us, which was very convenient. They also lend out bags and shoes for free.

The matcha tea ceremony was so fun and informative! Our instructor was kind, knowledgeable, and open to any questions, which made the experience engaging. I love matcha and decided to learn how to make it properly, so I bought their kit with a bowl, whisk, scoop, and more. We explored the art and mindfulness of matcha, and I loved hearing all the fascinating facts. Every step felt intentional and calming, giving me a deeper appreciation for this traditional practice. If you’re a matcha lover, I highly recommend this experience to fully enjoy and appreciate matcha!

No Sticks, no food! ⸻ An absolutely wonderful chopstick-making workshop in Kyoto! From the moment we arrived, everything was calm, welcoming, and beautifully well-explained. Ryu Kai Soku are outstanding instructors: patient, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their guidance is clear and precise, yet always delivered with warmth and good humor. They manage the rare balance of sharing deep traditional know-how while making the experience accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Working with the wood, learning the gestures, and understanding the philosophy behind such a simple yet meaningful object was a real privilege. You don’t just leave with chopsticks — you leave with a story, a skill, and a deep respect for Japanese craftsmanship. Thank you for this memorable experience. Wishing Ryu Kai Soku all the very best for the future — may your workshop continue to inspire many hands and many hearts. Elaine and Arnaud

Tips before visiting Kyoto

1. Plan your route early

Kyoto has many popular spots, so planning your Kyoto itinerary helps you save time. This keeps your days simple and helps you avoid long rides between areas.

2. Start your day early

Many top attractions get crowded, especially during cherry blossoms and autumn colors. If you visit in the early morning, you’ll enjoy quieter views and easier photos. This also helps you stay cool in warmer months.

3. Wear comfortable shoes

You’ll walk a lot across temples, markets, and older streets. Paths in old Kyoto can be uneven, so good shoes make your day easier. You’ll enjoy exploring without feeling tired too soon.

4. Use trains and buses

Public transport is easily accessible, especially around Kyoto Station and major districts. You’ll find trains and buses connecting most top picks, and you can save money with day passes like the Kyoto City Subway and Bus 1 Day Ticket during longer stays. Many places are also easy for you to reach on foot once you get off the bus.

5. Try local meals and stay flexible

Kyoto has great food, from green tea sweets to small restaurant spots serving classics. If lines are long, explore nearby streets like Pontocho Alley, Nishiki Market’s side lanes, or Shijo-dori; you may find a new favorite place for dinner or breakfast. Keeping flexible helps you enjoy the flow of the city.
