Fantastic 5.0
Stayed at Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo for 2 nights in May'26. About 7min - 10min walk from Kyoto Station. Along the way you passed by shopping mall, eatery and 7-11. Opposite hotel there's a mini mart. Hotel is clean. Served good spread of breakfast buffet, the milk (hot or cold) and matcha though from dispenser is creamy and delicious. At night served ramen free for all guest. Lobby has hot / cold water dispenser and, coffee machine dispenser too. Massage chair at lobby for all guest, onsen is refreshing and served either yaukult or, ice-cream free flow. Highly recommended.

Initially, I was just looking for Japanese-style accommodation, and I saw many bloggers recommending Umekoji Kadensho. Then, I saw that bicycles were available for rent, so I booked it. I managed to book a double room for three nights on Klook for just over 9,000 yen, which was quite a bargain! 😍 The conclusion is that there were no bicycles available for rent, but all other facilities were very satisfying. The public bath was extremely clean and had a wonderful atmosphere, making my first time bathing openly with others completely comfortable. I even bathed day and night! The private bath was relatively more ordinary but perfect for families and couples, and also suitable for those who are not comfortable bathing openly with others. 🫶🏻 The hotel also offers many free snacks and ramen, as well as free yukata for guests to try on, which is definitely worth experiencing. I highly recommend Umekoji Kadensho! Since my itinerary involved early departures, I didn't include breakfast in my booking this time, but I did add breakfast for the last day. Personally, I don't think it was the best value for money, but it's still worth trying. 👍🏻

This hotel is highly recommended! 1. It's conveniently located near Kyoto Station, with excellent quality and a great atmosphere. 2. They offer "Relax and Afternoon Free Time," with complimentary high-quality Japanese sake (about 10 varieties) and beer, accompanied by Japanese snacks, ice cream, and tea. There's also a Japanese green tea experience, making guests feel truly at home! It was a delightful surprise! Additionally, they provide materials for guests to create their own Japanese-style charms as souvenirs, which is a unique touch. Finally, they offer two types of facial masks, hair oil, and disposable skincare products, allowing guests to choose what they need, showing thoughtful consideration! My stay this time was very pleasant and comfortable!

Fantastic 5.0
our hotel is very convenient to all the places that we wanted to go. Food is everywhere, 711 and ichiran ramen are just next-door away. Sensoji Temple is three minutes walk and the Metro is right across the hotel. It’s also very quiet. We had a good night sleep. The room is a little bit small but it’s good enough for three people with three beds. will recommend.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is near Kyoto Station, but Kyoto Station is quite large. It's closer to the electric railway side, not the JR side, requiring a 5-minute walk. The hotel is big and very busy. It offers self-service check-in and check-out machines, free luggage storage, and each floor has ice machines, water dispensers, and vending machines. The rooms are spacious and clean. Staff members always greet you when they pass by, indicating excellent service. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed that every room also provides an iron and ironing board.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel was comfy and the breakfast was good. The price is great and it's safe for solo travelers, but the lobby is a bit small. The room is big enough for one person, but for two, it's a little cramped. Sadly, there's no view from the window, but you do get some light in the morning, which is enough. The Lawson is near the hotel. Avanti Mall has a lot of shops for shopping and you can walk through the underground to Kyoto Station. The room was cozy but a little bit old, but it's okay. I received some good sleep when I stayed.💖

Fantastic 5.0
Convenient transportation, friendly service—the top choice for a self-guided tour in Kyoto! My recent stay at "Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Shijokarasuma" was incredibly satisfying! If you're looking for a Kyoto hotel with an excellent location, convenient amenities, and superb service, this is definitely the place. I'll prioritize staying here again on my next trip to Kyoto. 【Excellent Transportation and Amenities】 The hotel's location is perfect! Right outside the entrance is a subway station, which is very convenient for travelers who prefer taking the subway. However, I mostly used buses during this trip to Kyoto, and there are numerous bus stops around the hotel with frequent services. Getting to popular attractions like Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Gion, Arashiyama, or Kyoto Station was smooth and easy. Additionally, there's a 7-ELEVEN just across the street diagonally from the hotel, making it extremely convenient to grab late-night snacks, treats, or drinks before heading back to the hotel. The amenities are truly outstanding. 【Comfortable Rooms and Thoughtful Facilities】 We booked a twin room, and the room size was standard for a city center hotel in Japan—relatively compact. If you have large luggage, you might need to place it on the bed to open it, but the overall space was well-planned, clean, and tidy. Most notably, the entire hotel is equipped with a water purification system, meaning the cold water in the bathroom is directly drinkable. This feature is both reassuring and convenient for travelers! 【Delicious Breakfast and Excellent Service】 Our booking included breakfast, and the variety of dishes was quite extensive, with flavors that suited our taste. Being able to refuel with a hearty breakfast at the hotel each morning before heading out to explore was a huge plus. I must also highly commend the front desk staff; their attitude was incredibly friendly, professional, and enthusiastic. They patiently answered all our questions with high efficiency, making us feel right at home. In summary, this is an excellent hotel with exceptional value. Its transportation, service, cleanliness, and surrounding amenities are all impeccable. I sincerely recommend it to all friends planning a trip to Kyoto!

More about Kyoto hotels

What staying in Kyoto feels like

Staying in Kyoto spans a clear range: the most premium rooms typically run about three times the price of the most affordable economy options, so there’s a noticeable step up as you move up the classes. The best balance between comfort and value tends to be in the premium tier, which is where many travellers find the most practical trade-off of space, quality and cost.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms sit at the budget end and are meaningfully cheaper than the rest, making them a solid choice for travellers who prioritise low cost over extras. Standard rooms are a modest step up and suit those wanting a bit more comfort without a large price jump. The premium tier represents the best value and is the main decision point before moving into the top end: it offers noticeably more space and quality for a moderate increase in price. The biggest jump comes when moving from premium to luxury, so choose luxury only if you want the highest-end experience and are prepared for a clear rise in cost.

When travellers from Australia usually book

For travellers from Australia, the cheapest month on record is August and the priciest month is November; budget-led trips work best if you can travel in August when rates are much lower than in November. Rooms here are typically booked about eight weeks in advance, so plan accordingly and lock in earlier if you’re travelling in November when demand pushes rates higher.
