The hotel does not provide a shuttle bus. There's quite a distance from the station to the hotel, and the worst part is a rocky path leading to the hotel, which makes pulling luggage very difficult and is extremely damaging to the wheels. Other hotel facilities are excellent.

Hotel looks new and clean. The parking is just next to the hotel at overnight rate 1200 yen. Our room comes with 2 single beds and 1 sofa bed, room size just right for our family of 3. Staff was excellent, I accidentally left behind an item in the room and they helped me to retrieve it. In fact, I booked the same hotel for another night stay on my return trip to Tokyo. Highly recommend!

Especially when we went out to look for dinner around 8 PM and realized that quite a few restaurants in Utsunomiya close earlier than those in Tokyo, staying in the city center makes things much more convenient. Convenience of transportation: Close to Tobu-Nikko Station, about a 5-minute walk. Very convenient transportation. Cleanliness: The room was clean and tidy. I booked a three-night stay this time and had a good experience overall. Breakfast: It wasn't possible to select breakfast during booking, but it was actually included. Personally, I thought the breakfast was very abundant, featuring eggs, milk, salad, bread, and curry rice.

The location is perfect for walking to all of the shrines and temples in Nikko. We stayed in the renovated complex, which we definitely recommend, as the rest of the property is a bit dated (though it still has charm and history). For arrival, you should either travel with light luggage or take a taxi (cost is about 1,100 yen from the station), as the final stretch to the hotel is quite steep and not well-suited for rolling suitcases.

The staff speak English and are very accommodating. I had gotten the wrong course for dinner but I wasn’t going to complain because it was my fault and they saw that the food wasn’t really my style so they let me do the buffet instead. Highly recommend checking out the onsen at night and the morning because the genders swap sides everyday so you can see both views. Sidenote, the burger place across the street is great!

the 2 days pass is worth taking. we took the local train which is only one hour more than limited express. and the frequency of the train is very fast. unlike limited express, although is more comfortable, the ticket has to purchase in advance. the free bus ride allow us to take from station to the shinkyo bridge, then to the temple and back to hotel for 2 days. however, the bus is crowded. sometimes, we walk for short distance instead.

The 72-hour JR Pass with an additional 8% discount is incredibly cost-effective. Since the JR Pass is an electronic voucher, I recommend exchanging it for a physical ticket at the airport; otherwise, you'll have to do it at Tokyo Station. This time, I also learned how to use the Pass directly on the machine to reserve desired train times and seats, which was incredibly convenient. For the 72-hour subway pass, I tried using QR codes for entry and exit this time, and I'm finally not worried about losing or damaging a physical ticket. Overall, this was a great experience.
