Nagoya Castle

Nagoya Castle is a historically important castle in Nagoya, Japan, known for its magnificent architecture and rich history. Built during the Edo period by Tokugawa Ieyasu, it was the home of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa family. Although the castle burned from air rides during World War II, the main castle tower and Honmaru Palace have been beautifully restored. The castle grounds are also worth seeing with its beautiful gardens like Ninomaru Garden, stone walls, traditional tea houses, and amazing golden shachihoko—mythical creatures that sit on the roof. But, there are plenty of things to do here besides sightseeing. At the castle's main entrance by the east gate, you can begin your adventure into Japanese history. Inside, there are exhibits on Nagoya Castle's history and Japanese folklore. Plus, you can watch the Nagoya Omotenashi Bushotai samurai performers bring Japanese stories to life with their shows. Close to Nagoya Station, the castle is easy to get to, making it a great place to visit. So why wait? Nagoya Castle is a must-see in Nagoya city.

The experience was very enjoyable! The lady leading the activity was very patient and translated into English for Europeans like us. By the end of the activity, everyone had successfully made the confections thanks to her explanations.

Our experience with VASARA Kimono Rental in Nagoya was exceptional. While this location had fewer yukata choices than I expected, the staff more than made up for it with their kindness, enthusiasm, and genuine care. I hoped to wear a red yukata to match my wife’s, but none were available. The staff went above and beyond, searching through unopened boxes until they found a maroon yukata with dragon designs. They paired it with a blue obi featuring a water pattern. They also dressed my wife and daughter beautifully, and transformed my son into a young samurai. Seeing our whole family dressed together was a highlight of our trip. Walking through Nagoya and visiting Nagoya Castle in yukata felt immersive and special. We received many friendly compliments and interactions along the way. The VASARA team didn’t just rent us clothing, they created a wonderful family memory we will cherish for years. Kintetsu 5 days Pass was totally worth it as I was shifting places from Osaka to Kyoto to Nara then Osaka, this pass covered unlimited train ride gave me a wonderful experiences in Japan especially during spring season. I was abit worried coz of digital pass which is QR code (can’t keep screenshot to enter, QR will reload after 5 minutes) but as long as you got stable internet, it would be fine. please read the instructions carefully before buying so that you will be familiar with. In my case, I didn’t use the 5 days pass right away, at first I tried to use local train by using ICOCA once I landed in Osaka then used it for 2 days then got to know the train routes then I started using on my 3rd day. recommended 🫶
