Passeios por Shirakawa-go

This day trip to Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go Gassho Village was very well-organized. The tour guide introduced the attractions and meeting times on the bus, then allowed travelers free time upon arrival, with a final meeting at a designated spot. I really enjoyed this style of travel. Compared to traditional day trips where you have to follow the guide the whole time, this itinerary was much more relaxed and flexible. There was no pressure to rush or be hurried, allowing us to explore at our own pace. In Hida Takayama, we savored delicious Hida beef skewers and pudding; in Shirakawa-go, we not only admired many beautiful Gassho-zukuri houses but also took many stunning photos. Overall, it was a very pleasant and comfortable day trip experience, highly recommended to everyone!

This is the most scenic place I've been. The weather was just nice for a leisurely hike. Temperature hovers around 18 degree celsius in early June and I didn't even break a sweat throughout the 3hrs hike. For those who wants to visit the Myojin shrine from the starting point at Taisho pond, do hasten your pace as there will just be enough time to finish the route back to to the bus terminal, without much time for lunch. For those who just want to take it easy, its recommended to stop at Kappa bridge which takes about 1.5h from starting point. Most of the scenic spots are from Taisho to Kappa bridge. It's the one place that you'll want to visit in every season.

Tour was amazing, our guide Kana was super friendly and provided all the info in advance while on the way, so when you arrive you already know what to prioritize and have a map to go around easily. tour starts early but then, when you arrive, is not that crowded which is nice. Better to follow her recommendation and go to the observatory first, when I went after arrival was almost empty but one hour later it was super full and it continued like that the rest of the day. Lunch was great and nice opportunity to try a traditional lunch. Both places were honestly breathtaking and we were super lucky to have a super sunny day. Bus was also great and it honestly felt nice to not have to check 10 times the public info for transport to make sure I was going in the right direction :) . Overall I think the experience is definitely worth it if you are in the area!

Such a great tour with good enthusiastic guide 小Xi and safe Japanese driver. Big coach was clean and comfortable. The scenery along the way was beautiful. Everything went well. We were very lucky to have a guide who spoke clearly and gave detailed instructions, information and recommendations both verbally and through WhatsApp. The itinerary was excellent with sufficient time at every stop. The tour is self-guided so we enjoyed the flexibility to do what we want and roam around freely based on the many places suggested by 小Xi who WhatsApp the exact location on Google maps to us. He also provided maps and gave food suggestions. We stayed at Hotel MyStays Kanazawa. Rooms are clean and new but very small. Double bed is also very small for two people. Best to ask for twin beds when booking this tour. Breakfast at the hotel was great with a wide spread of local and continental food. Overall we enjoyed this tour very much. Highly recommend this over a day tour to Shirakawago/Takayama.

I highly recommend using the hotel transfer service when traveling with elderly family members and children. The merchant was very thoughtful in asking about our needs and provided direct pick-up and drop-off at the hotel entrance. This time, because we had a stroller, they even upgraded our vehicle. Our driver, Mr. Lin, was also very friendly, and his driving skills were excellent and safe. After arriving at each destination, we had two hours for free exploration, which was just right. We simply met the driver at the drop-off point to get back in the car. All in all, I highly recommend this service.

Our guide, Tao, was very patient and knowledgeable about Japanese culture, having spent 20 years deeply immersed in Japan. My navigation system was a bit off, but Tao patiently guided me to the parking lot. The parking lot was on a slope, and the navigation led me to the back, making me think there was no road. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. It rained on the way there and back today, but thankfully the weather was clear and sunny during our sightseeing! We arrived in Takayama at 10:30 AM. Takayama Old Town has many interesting small shops. We passed by Takayama Betsuin and also visited Takayama Jinya, the only existing local government office from the Edo period in Japan. Around 1:00 PM, we had a Hida beef set meal for lunch. At 1:55 PM, we arrived at Shirakawa-go Gassho Village. The village architecture, with its thatched-roof wooden houses, was truly impressive. At 3:25 PM, we departed for Nagoya. The itinerary was excellent, saving us the trouble of traveling by ourselves.

Shirakawa-go and Takayama Tour is one of the best tours you can get in Nagoya. The tour consists of going to Takayama with some guided excursions. The orientation while inside the bus with the maps provided by the guide was enough for us to be well-guided with the best places to go in Takayama and Shirakawa-go. This tour provided observation deck access, which allowed us to take pictures and buy souvenirs. The tour in Takayama is one of the best tours we had since we were able to roam freely. In Shirakawa-go, we were also able to roam freely.

The 2-day tour was wonderful. The leader was super friendly and informative. She (Zang) made everyone enjoy the tour.
