Excursão de um dia a Shirakawa-go e à Cidade Antiga de Takayama (Almoço opcional com carne Hida)

Our guide, Tao, was very patient and knowledgeable about Japanese culture, having spent 20 years deeply immersed in Japan. My navigation system was a bit off, but Tao patiently guided me to the parking lot. The parking lot was on a slope, and the navigation led me to the back, making me think there was no road. I apologize for any inconvenience caused. It rained on the way there and back today, but thankfully the weather was clear and sunny during our sightseeing! We arrived in Takayama at 10:30 AM. Takayama Old Town has many interesting small shops. We passed by Takayama Betsuin and also visited Takayama Jinya, the only existing local government office from the Edo period in Japan. Around 1:00 PM, we had a Hida beef set meal for lunch. At 1:55 PM, we arrived at Shirakawa-go Gassho Village. The village architecture, with its thatched-roof wooden houses, was truly impressive. At 3:25 PM, we departed for Nagoya. The itinerary was excellent, saving us the trouble of traveling by ourselves.

Our guide, Liu, was thorough, approachable, and very organized. He served as both the English and Chinese guide for our bus, giving all the instructions in both languages with great energy. He also created WhatsApp and LINE groups, making it easy to receive updates and contact him throughout the tour. The ride was smooth and comfortable thanks to our drivers, Mr. Tanaka and Mr. Ikura. As a solo traveler with limited time, I found this tour to be excellent value for money. The itinerary was well planned, and we were given maps with suggested walking routes around Takayama and Shirakawa-go. There was enough free time for me to hike to the Shirakawa-go Observatory despite the summer heat. Liu also went above and beyond by taking my photos during my Hida beef lunch. We returned to Nagoya Station on schedule, and the entire trip was seamless. Overall, it was a great experience, and I highly recommend this tour.

It was raining ☔️ when we arrived at Shirakawa-go, but the scenery was beautiful, so we were still very happy. We were in a hurry, so we queued up to buy pudding and paid extra to see the Kanda House. There were several other places that required an entrance fee, but we didn't have time to see them. The observation deck was too far, so we couldn't go. With limited time, it's important to decide what you really want to see. The buildings in Hida Takayama are beautiful, and the shopping street is very long. After buying some Goheimochi and sake, we prepared to head back. This trip was specifically for the Hida beef lunch, which was delicious. We chose a one-day tour because the location is quite remote. I really liked how this tour guide led the group; there wasn't much unnecessary talk. They printed out all the main information for us, or put it in a Line group for those who wanted to see it. When it was almost time to leave, they even provided a Google Maps link to the parking spot, so we could easily find our way back. That's much better than trying to find people when time is up. Excellent! I've been on many one-day tours, and this one was the most satisfying.

The itinerary was very smooth! We gathered at 7:50 AM, and as soon as everyone arrived at 7:55 AM, we departed. The first stop was Takayama at 10:15 AM, where we had 90 minutes for free activities. The second stop was for lunch (40 minutes for dining). Although there were only a few slices of Hida beef, we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious lunch and rest. The tour leader thoughtfully arranged seating according to the group size (2, 3, or 4 people). The third stop was Shirakawa-go at 1:45 PM, where we had 90 minutes for free activities. There was ample time to walk around and explore the entire village. Overall, the timing was very smooth. Our tour leader, Xiao Yu, was kind and attentive, and we also thank the driver for his hard work. The seats on the bus for this day trip were very comfortable, and it was a lot of fun.

Bara San was very helpful and informative. I had 90 minutes in Takayama, which was sufficient for browsing the morning markets, getting a few snacks, and trying the sake gacha and tasting. I had 90 minutes at Shirakawago, which felt very rushed due to booking the lunch experience. In my opinion, skip lunch for an extra 40 minutes in Shirakawago; it's much more worth it, as there are shops selling snacks in the village anyway. All in all, a beautiful place to visit. The tour guides and bus driver were pleasant, knowledgeable, and responsible. Would recommend for first-timers.

I think this may be my favorite tour I've ever done in Japan! Both locations were so beautiful and completely worth the money! I got the Kobe beef sukiyaki lunch and it was very nice and set up for when we arrived. Takayama definitely deserves the "Little Kyoto" nickname it has, and I could have spent another hour there exploring more. Shirakawa-go was a beautiful breath of fresh air and really peaceful to just take a walk and enjoy!

Went for the English tour and Bara-san was great at explaining the various points of interest in each location. I recommend getting the Hida beef lunch meal so you can spend your time in Takayama exploring. For goshuin seekers and fans of Kimi No Nawa, Hie shrine is located at the outskirts and is worth a visit too!

The travel time takes a big part of the day, but the journey itself is very scenic so it’s still enjoyable. The biggest surprise was the snowfall (the wet kind not the powdery one). The weather app didn’t predict it, so it felt extra special when the snow started falling. Even our guide, Bara-san, was surprised and said our group might have been lucky to experience it. Bara-san was a great guide—very chill, patient, and easygoing, even with guests who were a few minutes late. He spoke good English and shared short history lessons during the trip. His reminders about meeting times were never pushy or strict; it felt more like a dad gently reminding you to be back by a certain time. Takayama and Shirakawa-go looked even more magical with the snow. Overall, it was a beautiful and memorable day trip. Highly recommended if you want to see traditional Japan and enjoy stunning winter scenery.

Our family (8 of us) enjoyed this tour immensely. Although our time in Takayama was not enough to explore this historic area more intently, it was enough to savor the quaint shops and sake tasting it offered. The lunch set of Hide beef in a family-run restaurant was great. The serving was generous and the A5 angus Hide beef was superbly melt-in-your-mouth. Shinakawa-go in spring presented a different persona. we were here last February and it was genuinely wrapped in snow and offered a wintery appeal. The flowers bloomed unabashedly and the rice fields laid there like a piece of art patchwork. Thank you to our Italian guide, I forgot his name, sorry. he was informative and spoke good English. it was worth the cost and it was quite a beautiful experience.

Such a well-planned and great trip! It snowed on the day, making the place even more magical. The view is amazing, and the trip went smoothly with excellent service and care from Yu and Iwase San. I would 1000% recommend the trip to Shirakawago and Takayama City. Don't forget to listen to Yu's food recommendations because they are all good! Also, don't forget to buy the water pudding and book lunch.
