Coisas para fazer em Shirakawa-go

I went on a bus tour alone and the guide provided commentary in Korean, which made the tour very comfortable.

This trip is very worthwhile, and lunch was delicious. In Takayama, you can also walk and eat, and even browse for souvenirs. I was very happy. It would be perfect if we could stay a bit longer at each attraction. 😁😁

The service was good. Our guide, Suesy (舒玥), was very kind and supportive, sharing stories about the place and offering excellent recommendations.

Shirakawa and Takayama were beautiful, despite the snow melting by now, it still has a different charm. Super long drive but worth it. The itinerary was quick in each location and you really have to rush the sightseeing if you want to see most of it but also understandable because the journey is really far. Thankfully there wasn't any jam that day. The guide was just okay, just reading the locations from her iPad, late during meet up but she's polite.

I visited on March 7th! Actually, I was debating whether to cancel until the day before, thinking all the snow would have melted. I usually try to avoid tours because if you meet the wrong guide or the wrong people, it can ruin your day... but I decided to go after much thought, and I was truly satisfied! As expected, the snow had melted, but from the moment Guide Kim Eun-g greeted us at the meeting point, I felt like I had met a great guide. Throughout the tour, she was incredibly kind and attentive, and in Shirakawa-go, she even climbed up to the summit with us and took photos. She guided us warmly and sincerely with a smiling face all day long! Thanks to her, this Nagoya trip left me with even better memories. I believe the guide makes up over 90% of a tour's atmosphere! I was truly grateful to have met such a wonderful guide.

Mr. GU is a part-time student but did his job very well. His English is remarkable and he is open to recommending anything good in Nagoya. The trip, however, was very rainy during the morning, so our first stop at Takayama Old Town was very damp, but a rainy vintage town has its own charms, just not a lot of time to explore definitely, but the ambiance was good. Still, I wished it didn't rain, it was a hassle. Here's a tip: before booking any tours, it's better to do it a week before after checking the weather. It's better than booking early, saving a few hundreds, and not enjoying it completely. There's also a chance that promos are available again with even lower prices. On the way to Shirakawa-Go Village, the rain completely stopped and it was just cloudy (perfect). The Village was really nice, definitely a world heritage site. The lunch food included (which we availed) was really good too; even my picky mother loved it. Overall, the experience was nice, but checking the weather is a must.

The tour guide was very thoughtful, sending information about shops, restaurants, and souvenir stores at the attractions before departure. During the journey, which involved longer driving times, the guide also scheduled a 15-minute rest stop at a service area. Before arriving at each attraction, a brief cultural introduction was provided, and upon arrival, the guide offered a simple explanation to travelers before allowing free time.

Sister Geng's explanations and introductions along the way were very detailed, and her time management was excellent. Even with delays due to travel, she still managed everything very well. Highly recommend! 👍🏻
