Excursão de um dia inteiro pela UNESCO em Takayama Shirakawa-go & Gokayama

The group for this trip was full, with participants from various countries and no local Japanese. We were assigned an English-speaking guide, who was truly fantastic! She introduced the various sightseeing spots and recommended food/drinks to try. The interaction between our tour guide and us was amazing! It was a dedicated bus, so we were able to go sightseeing and travel light (leaving snacks and jackets on the bus). The meetup spots were also much more convenient compared to public buses! This was definitely worth the money!

It was an excellent trip! The guide, Yamashita, is very good at her job. It was advertised that the guide is Japanese, but she can actually speak English very well. I enjoyed the trip very much. The scenery, the vibe, everything was perfect! Thank you.

Wonderful experience. It was snowing heavily but we had fun walking around the village. However, we only had 3 hours in Shirakawago, so time was tight, especially if you need to queue up for food during peak season (each store took about 20 minutes to get your snacks). We barely managed to get up to the Observatory to have an overview of the village and got back to the bus. We didn't have time to try out the guide-recommended ice cream or visit the Heritage Museum, though.

This tour allowed us to explore the less accessible Ainokura village in Gokayama, which is less touristy than the popular Shirakawa-go area. The duration allocated for both villages was appropriate. We were also very lucky to get a guide who was well-versed in English.

We recommend it wholeheartedly! The guide and driver were excellent and full of advice. Despite the rainy weather, we were able to fully enjoy the day and the visits with well-adapted timing. The rice paper making in Ainokura village was a truly traditional experience. Thank you!

It's advisable not to buy tickets too far in advance. Decide when to depart about a week beforehand, based on the weather (especially during the snowy season). Exchange your e-ticket for a physical ticket at the Nohi Bus Center, then head to bus stop 7 to wait for your bus. When I went, it was winter, but it rained the entire week. Luckily, when we arrived at Gokayama, the weather was perfect and it was snowing, so even though I couldn't photograph a snow-covered Gassho-zukuri village, I still saw beautiful snowy scenery! In contrast, the weather in Shirakawa-go was very bad, there were many tourists, and it felt more commercialized. My family and I preferred Gokayama; 50 minutes there was too short, I wish we could have stayed longer. Overall, the arrangements were quite good; the point-to-point bus transfer was very convenient, and the guide's explanations were clear and helpful :) I hope the stay in Gokayama and Shirakawa-go can be extended (especially to include lunch + observation deck + visiting the three huts).

Fue un gran recorrido y tuvimos una nieve increíble ese día. Nieve fenomenal de 3 metros de altura. Fue genial y realmente hermoso. Solo recuerda usar los zapatos adecuados para la nieve.

If you have a day and want to visit both Gokayama and Shirakawa-go, this tour organised by Nohi is for you. The guide, Chinami, spoke English and Japanese and was excellent and helpful, especially in providing tips on the essential sights to visit and how much time to allocate. She even provided maps with highlighted routes for our use. There was more than enough time for a leisurely walk through both villages. This tour is highly recommended. A note that you need to print out the HIS voucher that will be emailed to you to exchange for a bus ticket and sticker at the Nohi Bus Terminal before boarding the coach at Bus Bay 7.
