Gion Kawakami (祇園川上) em Kyoto Gion

It was a bit hard to find, but the service was really great and the food was amazing! Like nothing we have ever had before.

Experiencing Japanese culture is a wonderful experience. The food flavors are perfectly balanced, and the tableware is very distinctive. The price is also reasonable.

This was the best meal I had in Japan! I was traveling alone, and many places require a minimum of 2 people, but I was lucky that this place had counter seating and I got to watch the chef prepare everything right in front of me. The attention to detail, the service, and the food were all impeccable. I will definitely return if I come back to Kyoto! The pictures don't do justice to the exquisite taste.

We arrived a little early and were quickly seated. Throughout the meal, because we were the only two Chinese guests, each dish was specially translated into English on a phone to explain the ingredients and the order of consumption. The taste was the standard refreshing flavor of kaiseki cuisine, with some unique touches. The dining time was 1.5 hours or more. As it was our last lunch on the day of departure, the timing was just right – neither rushed nor delayed. We did get hungry a bit quickly, and by the time we reached the airport in the evening, it had almost all digested.

It was delicious, the chef was very professional, and the dining environment was quiet and comfortable! They are also very friendly to foreigners, explaining the dishes in Japanese. If you don't understand Japanese and want to understand Kaiseki, it's a good idea to prepare a translation app beforehand.

The service staff had a great attitude, the food was exquisite, and the portions were generous. It's also suitable for bringing young children, as there are private rooms so you don't have to worry about disturbing others.

There are 5 private rooms, plus one where a chef can prepare your meal on-site. The food is incredibly fresh and exquisite. This kaiseki lunch offers great value for money. Definitely worth trying again.
