Gion Kawakami (祇園川上) em Kyoto Gion

It was a bit hard to find, but the service was really great and the food was amazing! Like nothing we have ever had before.

Located in Gion, it's very convenient to get to Hanamikoji Street. Kyoto kaiseki cuisine requires advance reservations, and for Chinese tourists, Klook's package options are quite good. As for the cuisine itself, I personally didn't find it particularly amazing, but fortunately, the ingredients were fresh, the presentation was exquisite, and the flavors were light. Unfortunately, due to language barriers, there was almost no communication with the chef. The staff provided good service. Regardless, I was relatively satisfied.

A fantastic experience with great value for money. The ingredients were fresh, and the food was delicious, especially that fish dish – I don't know what kind of fish it was, but it was incredibly tasty! The chef was very humorous. I will definitely choose Kawakami again next time I visit Kyoto!

The restaurant is located in Gion, and the staff speak simple English, so communication was not an issue. We encountered a typhoon on our original reservation date, but changing the date was not a problem. The food was delicious and highly recommended.

A restaurant with a great ambiance and high-quality food. The ingredients are fresh, and the flavors are innovative yet not overdone. The presentation of the dishes is also very thoughtful. Highly satisfying.

The meal was okay, not superb as I've had better kaiseki. The child's bento set (not pictured) wasn't really ideal for our 4.5-year-old, but they refilled her rice and miso for free. It's a good experience for those trying Kaiseki for the first time. Perhaps due to a language barrier, there wasn't much explanation of what was being served. It's in a nice location in Gion, which is worth exploring.

Nestled beside a flower-lined path, the private rooms offer a tranquil ambiance. The dishes are beautifully presented, and the food is exquisite. It was a wonderful experience bringing the children to enjoy lunch.
