Things to do in Chiang Mai Province

I joined the English tour and we ended up being a group of 20, split into 2 Vans. we were paired up with Paul and JT was the driver for our van. I received a text from Paul on the day of with the pick up schedule. Got picked up right from my hotel and dropped off again at the end of the experience. Paul was definitely working hard to make sure everyone in the group was included. Handsome Paul! was generous, knowledgeable and humble. Gave some good information about the elephants, the sanctuary, and some history about the people working at the sanctuary. We had the best spots to wait, got first dibs on the line for the raft, He was helpful with taking photos and sent them via WhatsApp. Lunch option was bland but edible, some of the things didn’t go together. We spent the most time at the sanctuary, but got to experience the bamboo raft and sticky water fall as well. I loved the elephants and Doggos there!! Overall the experience was an unforgettable one!

Think of it as transport not tour. Driver was on time and drove smoothly and let us know when to meet back at the van. Loved checking out the Elephant Poo Paper Park (not smelly at all haha) and the Sticky Waterfall was so cool! The waterfall closed at 430 though so we were rushed by the park rangers near the end. Overall worth it to not worry about transportation.

It was quite stunning to see the white temple in Chiang Rai. The blue temple was great too. The black museum has some adult contents hence if travelling with children, you need to be aware of it. Long drive of 3.5 hours to Chiang Rai and back is probably worth it!

I accidentally booked the wrong branch, but decided to come and experience this one. It's bigger and has more masseuses. The massage area feels larger, and you can charge your phone by the bed. The masseuses are attentive and professional, and the front desk staff is very friendly. You can also get refills of the herbal tea and rice crackers after the massage. Overall, a good value for the price.

I booked the 2-hour scrub & oil massage course this time. The salon was very oriental, and the tea during the consultation was delicious. The treatment was careful, gentle, and very satisfying. My skin became moist and smooth, and the extra swelling was removed, which was wonderful. The tea and sweets I received after the treatment were very tasty, and I bought some to take home. I think there are many salons in Chiang Mai, but I'm glad I chose this one.

Four coaches for nine participants is quite good. Jacky, who I met this time, was enthusiastic and made sure I had a great time even though I was traveling alone. Before you depart, you can pay their accompanying photographer $300 per person, and at the end, they'll give you some photos and videos. You can also tell the photographer along the way if you'd like to take pictures.

Our hotel was outside the Old Town area, but we booked this tour because it offered pickup over a wide range. We participated as a family of two adults and three children (ages 3, 8, and 11). We shared the ride with two other groups, but it was a smooth experience. The day before, we received a confirmation email letting us know which car would pick us up. The cooking portion was for two adults, and the children helped the adults cook or wandered around when they got bored, as there was a chicken coop and a large garden nearby. The children received a set meal that included drinks, a rice plate similar to fried rice, and a mango with sweet sticky rice plate. The two adult portions we cooked were quite substantial, and our family was full after sharing them with the children. Other group members also shared one adult portion between two people. The assistants received the same menu as our children, and the quantity seemed sufficient. We adults each wanted to cook our own dishes, so we requested that, but some people took turns cooking, which might be a good option for couples. The instructor was kind and very easy to understand, even showing consideration for our children. The venue was truly stress-free and allowed us to relax. The food was delicious, the environment was pleasant, and our family of five thoroughly enjoyed it.

Market Tour: The market isn't very big, and the environment is poor. If the seafood isn't managed properly, the smell is exceptionally unpleasant. However, the instructor meticulously explains each ingredient and common Thai food item. Organic Garden Tour: We visited the small organic garden within the base. Most of the herbs and chilies used in the cooking class are grown on a small scale, allowing us to observe and taste each one. There are also tortoises that you can feed. Cooking Session: I chose the small group (4 people) in an air-conditioned room. The environment was excellent, the air conditioning was very cool, and the space was large enough. It was almost perfect, except for the excessive cooking fumes during the preparation. The instructor taught us throughout the process to identify each ingredient and herb, as well as their role in the dishes, with great detail and precision. The entire cooking sequence was very smooth and seamless, with no chaotic moments. Each person prepared three self-selected dishes. Instructor: Our instructor, SATANG, was fluent in English, explained things clearly, was experienced, and enthusiastically attended to every student. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, allowing us to truly understand the dietary preferences of the Thai people ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
