It was a good 1-hour experience with the kids. Fortunately, the weather wasn't too hot, which made it even better. It was nice to be able to eat fruit and see plants that are common on farms. One downside is that the English guide didn't seem to have excellent English skills. However, there were no communication problems at all.

It was an extraordinary experience with straightforward communication with the tour guide for pickup. The areas visited (Penang Hill with the funicular railway and the Kek Lok Si Temple) were impressive. Especially around the time of the New Year festival, the temple was decorated with many lanterns. There is so much to discover and see, you could spend a whole day there. It was simply great! On the way back, you can also be dropped off at a Hawker center for lunch instead of returning to the hotel hungry.

Ranjit - our driver / guide displayed high levels of hospitality. He showed us the Kek Lok Si Temple and Penang hill. He was very knowledgeable about the places and it’s history. The program was well structured and we were able to cover the places leisurely. We look forward to more trips with Klook. Thanks

We are a family size of 3 (with a 4yo). Uncle Jimmy our chauffeur came to get us from our hotel at Georgetown and took us safely and comfortably to Balik Pulau. Rizal was our ATV guide. Being the only female, he allowed me to be second in line with my hubby and boy the next, followed by a group of 5 (all male). He constantly checked on us throughout the ride, gestured to stop at various locations and assisted us in taking amazing photos. He gave us a heads up what to expect in the next leg of journey (e.g. Cow). Last stop was at Hutan Paya Laut, a swamp forest leading to the ocean where we met the friendly ginger cat before making our way back. Uncle Jimmy was already there waiting for us to take us back to our hotel. Had our complimentary lemongrass drink and a slice of banana cake at Love uu cafe before hoping into Uncle Jimmy's car and bidding farewell. My 4yo enjoyed it so much! Thank you Rizal! We will be back!

Free island-wide pickup and drop-off, the itinerary is not tiring, the country roads are flat, suitable for family cycling. Ride through rice fields, villages, beaches, and mangroves. You can see all kinds of tropical fruits, crops, birds, fighting mudskippers, and even turtles... The tour leader is very enthusiastic, explains things in detail, and is patient! He also runs a B&B and rents out bicycles. If two and a half hours (stopping several times to see the scenery, so you don’t actually cycle that long) is not enough, you can rent a bicycle again and explore the peaceful villages of Balik Pulau yourself!

What to know before visiting George Town

Quick snapshot of George Town and what to do

George Town's Klook bookings are led by Parks & gardens and Theme parks, with Observation decks, Museums and Tours also popular — the city sees a clear annual rhythm driven by a busy January. That mix means visitors can expect both outdoor attractions and family-friendly entertainment to dominate the itinerary throughout the year.

Best times to visit and how prices move

Klook data shows the busiest month is January, while demand drops to its lowest in May. Prices tend to peak later in the year: November is typically the priciest month for bookings on Klook, and September usually records the lowest typical prices. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, consider visiting in May or September; for peak-season atmosphere pick January or November. Demand and prices diverge at times — January is very busy but not the absolute priciest month, while November is pricier even though it isn’t the single busiest month.

Tips for travellers from Malaysia

Most travellers from Malaysia book quite close to arrival: typical bookings happen about a day before activities, with some customers planning up to around six days ahead. That makes George Town easy to visit on short notice, but if you’re travelling in the busy January period or targeting popular Theme parks, secure key tickets a few days in advance to avoid disappointment. Use Klook to compare options and lock in the experiences you really want while you finalise other trip details.
