Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is famous for its amazing cherry blossoms. Every spring, the cherry trees in the garden bloom with beautiful pink and white flowers. It's a fantastic place in Tokyo to see these gorgeous cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Shinjuku Gyoen does have an entrance ticket. The entrance fee is a few hundred yen, about 400-500 YEN. It's best to check the official website for up-to-date pricing as it may change a bit from time to time.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden has three main entrances. The biggest one is Shinjuku Gate, which takes you through the west resthouse and towards the Japanese Garden. Then, there's Okido Gate, which is next to the greenhouse and Tamamo Pond. Lastly, the Sendagaya Gate is near the cherry trees and Maple Hill, and it also connects the Japanese Garden with the French Garden.

To get to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden by metro, you have three gates to choose from: Shinjuku Gate, Okido Gate, and Sendagaya Gate. For Shinjuku Gate, take the JR line to Shinjuku Station and use the "New South Exit."

From there, it's just a ten-minute walk to the garden. If you're heading to Okido Gate, get off at Shinjukugyoenmae Station on the Marunouchi Line. The gate is just a five-minute walk from the station. To enter the Sendagaya Gate, take the JR Chuo/Sobu Line to Sendagaya Station. It's a quick five-minute walk from there.

Plan for at least 2-3 hours to explore the diverse gardens and attractions leisurely. This gives you plenty of time to walk through the three distinct styles the English Landscape Garden, the Japanese traditional Garden, and the French formal Garden.

You can also enjoy the greenhouse and the many ponds around the park. If you have a picnic, a special exhibition, or if you're around during cherry blossom season, it's best to allot more time.

The best time to visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is in the morning, right during opening hours starting at 9 AM. This way, you can avoid the crowds. You will also want to avoid any public holiday, as it can get quite packed during this time.

In spring, you can see flowering cherry trees. Autumn, especially in November and December, brings vivid and colorful fall foliage. Late summer is perfect for picnics and enjoying the warm sunshine.
