What to expect
Kintsugi is the art of breathing new life into broken pottery. In this introductory course, the process will be done with resin and ornamental gold powder. Led by a team of artisans in an atelier dedicated to this beautiful Japanese craft, create your piece while being surrounded by larger, more intricate pieces made by Master Taku Nakano himself. Your piece can be completed in one session and you can bring it home the same day.

Reviews summaryWe had a great time! It was a big class so the instructor had to work hard and help us all through it. A lot of great explanations, videos, and a PowerPoint about the whole process and history which was interesting. The instructor was the one who created this quick technique and was awarded for it. It was a lot more work than expected, but the pay off was fun! If you get a chance to try this class out, this is a must try on my list!
Amazing workshop. Interesting and very well explained. I really recommend attending and also got a great souvenir to take home. The staff were amazing and helpful. Woukd go again when I’m back in Japan.
this was an amazing experience that we did with our Japanese ‘daughters’. the instructions are easy to follow and you end up with a beautiful souvenir. it was worth every penny and took 1.5hrs. you could also buy kits to take home if you wanted a second experience but we stuck with what we had. Thank you for a fantastic experience. Your Canadian Friends.
Love the experience, understand more about Kintsugi craft and the wabi-sabi spirit. materials were prepared and all you have to do is to follow the instructions. packing peanuts were provided to ensure that your plate doesn’t break 💯
Must try experience for those who want their Tokyo Trip to be more than just a series of photo ops. Beyong having a unique keepsake to take home, it was beautiful to learn about Kintsugi and taught how to make something broken even more beautiful and stronger than it was before.
Attended the Kintsugi workshop during our recent trip to Tokyo. We enjoyed it very much. Felt somewhat meditative to be polishing porcelain (it takes concentration and strength) and shaping/repairing what the eventual crack will look like. Really love the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi and the philosophy - embracing imperfections and finding beauty in brokenness. At the end of the experience, you take home your beautiful creation. It was one of the highlight of our trip, and something a little different from the 'usual' cultural experiences in Japan.
Was a very informative and calm experience, I think that the master was a very good expert on the topic, it was very fun to do with a friend, especially if they love arts and craft, definitely an experience you have to try!
This is one of our highlights in our Japan trip. A great activity for family amd friends, you get to take home a very special gift from Japan that is uniquely yours. Taku is a great teacher and an excellent artist. 10/10 will go again!
What a great experience learning the art of kintsugi! We get to choose our own piece of ceramic ware and followed the kind and patient instructor's step by step guidance. Really fun! You must try this while in Japan!
My husband and I booked this workshop during our honeymoon in Japan. 10/10 recommend! We enjoyed learning about the history of Kintsugi as well as creating our very own piece! It's a meaningful keepsake that will always remind us of our trip. The staff were super friendly and very helpful every step of the way throughout the workshop. Thank you for a wonderful time!
