We had an awesome experience learning the art of Kintsugi in Kyoto. I attended with my adult daughter and we both had a wonderful time. The booking says the class is one hour, which is not enough time to actually complete the class. You’d be better allocating 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the experience. We really only had an hour and were rushed getting it finished in 1 hour 20 minutes. That was the only downside to the class. Our instructor JoJo did a marvelous job of explaining some of the history and uses of Kintsugi. It really was fascinating to experience the philosophy of rebirth and reuse. Like so many of the temples use the Phoenix as a symbol for rebirth, this class taught the practical side of the concept. From reassembling the broken dish to applying the gold, JoJo made it fun and informative. Highly recommend it to anyone - all ages!! instructor: Fun and interesting. experience: Very happy we made time for this!!
my husband and I just did the Kintsugi and Chopsticks workshops and LOVED it!! Patrick guided us through chopsticks crafting and Will walked us through Kintsugi. Both guides were phenomenal, spoke great English, and were hilarious and fun! 10/10 I’d recommend doing again!
A great moment! This is a workshop that I particularly enjoyed! And I was fortunate to have a Japanese person present who spoke French quite well; which was perfect for me, as I only speak French! The team was great, passionate professionals! I recommend it! And you can then go to Hands Kyoto, where you can buy a kintsugi kit for 9460 yen. 😊
Be adviced the location is incorrect on Klook. (Go to Zen-Kyoto Annex) Super fun experience otherwise! Our attendant Momoka helped us along the way and even gave use a little History about the art.
loved this experience! Kintsugi is such a beautiful art of taking something broken and turning it into a masterpiece. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
It was a very enjoyable and peaceful experience. I'd like to thank our guide, Roman, very much. He was friendly and kind, and very attentive. He explained and demonstrated everything step-by-step. I definitely recommend you try it. You also learn about the history of Kintsugi.
The best way to get out of the heat is to join a Kintsugi session with Katie. The experience was everything we hoped for. Relaxing break from the hustle of the city. Katie was patient and kind. She was able to guide us to ensure we had the best experience. Highly recommend this activity for adults and kids.
We had the best time doing the workshop this afternoon. We especially loved our guide Katie. She was very patient with our family and explained all of the processes very clearly so that we were able to create our own beautiful masterpieces. Even our eight-year-old was able to take part and had lots of fun. Thank you Katie and Team for a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this experience for adults and families alike. Remember to double check the address of this location as it is in a different location to the Zen chopstick and knife making workshops, which we also did today and are also are in a different location to this experience.
This was such a fun 45 min experience and an amazing souvenir that has Japanese history behind it. big shoutout to Katie for being a great help and kind voice throughout the process! would highly recommend if you have a hour of down time.
Momoka and Arata guided us through the ancient process of ceramic repair, following the principle of highlighting imperfections. It was a moment of disconnection, tranquility, and seeing how we can fix and create with our own hands.
