We had a fantastic time at the sumo show and dinner. The entire experience was well put together—dinner and drinks were excellent, and the host was welcoming and engaging throughout. The wrestlers were highly entertaining, and we especially loved how they involved the audience, making it a fun and interactive experience. Highly recommended!

Incredibly interactive and funny, the announcer and the sumo do a great job of reeling in the audience, the geisha are lovely and the wait staff are attentive. Its a must do if you are in Kyoto, you will not regret it.

What a fun night! Had a great experience and loved the food! The show was superb funny, the Gieshas so graceful, and the MC and staff did a great job. The sake was powerful and the drinks just kept on coming. We are very happy we visited The Kyoto Sumo Club! customers!

Excellent evening of entertainment. l really was not expecting the evening to be so much fun. We were upgraded to premium seats upon arrival,food was not bad, with unlimited drinks. The sumo guys and the host were funny. Good audience participation, a great evening altogether, and steps from our hotel. I would highly recommend.

experience: My wife, my two children (12 and 11), and I had a fantastic time. They explain the history and rules of sumo in English while you enjoy unlimited food and drinks, which are easy to order. The wrestlers are very entertaining, and at the end, I even got to participate in a match against a wrestler.

This was so fun!! BTW This was more of showcase and immersive comedy experience than it was a sumo match. The MC explained the rules, lifestyle and fun facts about Sumos and also gave the audience opportunities to participate. We found ourselves laughing and learning the entire time, and the food was all super yum. Kyouroman and Koyouki were such a delight to watch. Would come back again!

I can’t recommend the sumo show at Kyoto Sumo Club enough! It might end up being the highlight of our trip. The show is educational, funny and interactive. The food and drinks were great. For the price absolutely incredible value.

Welcome to “Kyoto Sumo Club,” a sister store to the hugely popular “Asakusa Sumo Club” in Asakusa, Tokyo! Here, you can enjoy an immersive sumo experience with exciting live entertainment, authentic sumo cuisine, and an “all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink” service. At the center of the venue is a real dohyo (sumo ring), where you can experience powerful, intense matches up close.

*This event is not an official sumo tournament or a viewing of actual training. It is an experiential show filled with laughter and entertainment, designed for guests to enjoy sumo culture up close.

You can choose from two seating types to suit your preference:

Standard Seats: Comfortable and well-balanced seats with a good view of the entire dohyo.
VIP Seats: Premium seats that allow you to watch the powerful, intense matches up close from the front row. Additionally, you will receive a commemorative printed photo (with a special photo frame) as a gift!

Sumo wrestling is said to be as old as Japan, or even older. At Kyoto Sumo Club, a sister store of the popular Asakusa Sumo Club in Tokyo, we will introduce you to the rich history of sumo wrestling and how it has evolved over the years in an easy-to-understand manner. In the meantime, customers can enjoy an authentic "sumo-style meal" with all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink options. Please eat and drink as much as you like. A real sumo ring (dohyo) is installed in the center of the restaurant, allowing you to experience a realistic and authentic atmosphere. You can watch a demonstration of basic morning practice movements, learn traditional sumo techniques, and learn the basic rules of sumo wrestling and what you can and cannot do. After that, please enjoy a three-bout match by former professional sumo wrestlers. Before the show begins, you can watch a Japanese dance performed by geisha in elegant kimonos to liven up the atmosphere of the sumo show. Customers can also go up to the dohyo and experience challenging the wrestlers. *The number of challengers is limited for each performance. If there are many applicants, there will be a lottery. All seats are arranged so that you can feel close to the dohyo, but if you would like the closest seats, we recommend upgrading to the VIP seats in the front row.
