It was good to have this pass. 3 non-consecutive days would have been better. The journey to Hakone from Tokyo was already long, but we were compensated with the Fuji view along the way. The attractions were well-attended due to the good weather, but not completely overcrowded. The return journey from the cruise station was very strenuous and confusing because we had to queue for a long time. It was not well organized and very unclear where one had to queue. All in all, it was still very nice.
The Hakone Kamakura Pass is a very practical travel ticket, especially suitable for travelers who love to explore Japanese culture and natural beauty. This pass covers various modes of transportation from Hakone to Kamakura, including trains, buses, and ropeways, which is not only convenient and fast but also saves a lot on transportation costs. Firstly, Hakone is famous for its hot springs, lakes, and beautiful mountain scenery. With this pass, you can easily take the Hakone Tozan Railway, Hakone Ropeway, and other transport options, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural landscapes along the way. Taking the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani, you can admire the magnificent volcanic scenery while experiencing the charm of hot springs. The hot spring ryokans at Hakone-Yumoto Station are also worth trying, allowing you to completely relax. Subsequently, a visit to Kamakura is also a highlight. This historic city is known for its temples, shrines, and beautiful beaches. Thanks to the convenient transportation offered by this pass, you can easily visit famous attractions such as Hasedera Temple and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Kamakura's old streets and Japanese-style shops also provide excellent shopping and dining experiences. Overall, the Hakone Kamakura Pass is not only convenient and practical but also allows you to fully discover the natural and cultural charm of these two regions. It offers a fulfilling and relaxing travel experience and is highly recommended for travelers who enjoy a deep immersion in Japanese culture.
My second time using the Hakone Kamakura 3 day pass. It is an easy way to travel from Shinjuku station to Hakone, with an extra fee for the Romancecar. I would buy it again as it covers a lot of the transport in the local area and Kamakura.
I used the Hakone & Kamakura Pass, but I booked the Romancecar separately and took that. I was able to use the pass after exchanging it for a physical ticket at the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center. The staff member spoke Korean, Japanese, and English, so they explained everything very well in Korean! I enjoyed various modes of transportation and sights in Hakone and had a fun time! Kamakura was also very crowded with tourists, but the scenery was still so beautiful, and the Enoden train was so cute, and the railway was pretty, making it perfect for taking photos. The weather was incredibly hot, so my clothes were completely soaked! Nevertheless, I had a wonderful time.
Made traveling within the regions very efficient. We spent one day in Kamakura and two days in Hakone. Even though we stayed in a ryoken for one full day, the efficiency of transportation without having to buy paper tickets was worth the expense.
It's useful! But if you plan well, you can make good use of the Hakone and Kamakura Free Pass to travel between Hakone and Kamakura! The prerequisite is to be mentally prepared, as you will be very tired! 😂 You should set aside at least two days for Hakone (not including dragging luggage from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo to Hakone)! All in all, we were very lucky today to depart from Gotemba early in the morning to Gora and catch the last Owakudani ropeway (which was temporarily closed due to strong winds) before 10 AM... so you absolutely must set aside more time in Hakone! Originally, we didn't plan to go to Kamakura, because we had already spent two out of three days in Hakone traveling to Tokyo, leaving only one day for sightseeing. Therefore, in the morning, we played at the Owakudani ropeway → pirate ship → Kamakura (we had to transfer many, many times). Finally, returning to Gotemba, we bought a JR ticket (Kamakura → Gotemba) for about eighty Hong Kong dollars, but you will be much more comfortable!
The Hakone Kamakura Pass allows you to visit several popular attractions. On our first day, we took the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku Station to Fujisawa Station, then transferred to the Enoden to explore various famous spots in Kamakura. On the second day, it took three train transfers to reach Hakone, which was a bit inconvenient, but the pass still covered all transportation. In Hakone, we took the Hakone Tozan Railway, Hakone Tozan Cable Car, and Hakone Ropeway, then a pirate ship on Lake Ashi, and finally a Hakone Tozan Bus back to Hakone-Yumoto Station. All of these were covered by the single pass, eliminating the need to queue and buy separate tickets, which was very convenient! On the third day, we took the train to Odawara Station to see Odawara Castle. I highly recommend visiting this attraction. You can download a dedicated app for Odawara Castle's main keep, which offers traditional Chinese explanations, making it well worth a visit. Afterwards, we took the Odakyu Electric Railway back to Shinjuku Station. This pass offers excellent value for money. The only slight inconvenience is that you have to show the physical pass at the ticket gates instead of scanning a QR code for entry and exit. However, if there's no station staff present, you can just walk through, which is quite interesting. 😅
Wowowow!!!
