Voucher do Passe Fuji-Hakone

I used the pass to travel to Hakone by train and a discounted ticket to the Open Air Museum, Gotemba Station, and Fuji by bus. I didn't realize the Fuji bus travels in a loop and the travel distance between Hakone and Fuji. If we get the chance to travel to Japan again next time, we will book a hotel in the Fuji area. We only traveled up to Lake Yamanakako and Oshino Hakkai, so there's much more to explore in Fuji. But we had to get back to Hakone by 3 PM to reach Hakone Hotel by 7 PM.

On the first day, I went to the Odakyu Line Service Center at Shinjuku West Exit to exchange my Hakone Free Pass. I used my Tokyo Metro 3-day pass to get to Shinjuku West Exit early in the morning. Since there were plenty of seats on the train, I didn't choose the Romancecar. I took the 7:19 Odakyu Line and arrived at Odawara Station around 9 AM, then transferred to the Tozan Railway on the same level to Hakone-Yumoto Station. The hotel I chose was conveniently located right opposite the station. After dropping off my luggage, I continued on the Tozan Railway to Gora. From Sounzan to Owakudani, as the aerial ropeway ascended, we saw large plumes of smoke erupting from the mountains, and exclamations of "Wow!" echoed all around. From Owakudani, we went to Togendai, where we transferred to the pirate ship. It was very crowded, so we upgraded to first class for 700 yen per person. Luckily, we only bought one-way tickets. On the way back from Hakone Shrine ⛩️ to Hakone-Yumoto, we took the Line 2 public bus 🚌 directly to the hotel. On the second day, after checking out of the hotel, we took the L Line bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station by the river to Gotemba Premium Outlets. It was my first time using the Hakone Free Pass, and due to lack of experience and time constraints, I paid an extra 2000 yen per person (if the Shinjuku service center had explained it more clearly, I could have avoided this big pitfall!) to take an express bus to Kawaguchiko. After finding the information center, I learned that there's a free shuttle bus connecting Gotemba Outlets and JR Gotemba Station. From Kawaguchiko Station, I took the red sightseeing bus to the Maple Corridor, taking photos of Mount Fuji, the lake, and the beautiful autumn leaves along the way. On the return journey, I took a bus from Kawaguchiko Platform 6 at 16:20 to Gotemba, then to Gotemba Outlets. The last bus at 19:00 allowed me to take the T Line to Sengoku, then transfer to the M Line to Hakone-Yumoto Station. On the third day, I continued to take the M Line to Sengokuhara, and then took the pirate ship to Hakone Shrine... If you get up early (after 10 AM, many buses run only once an hour), you can go to Lake Yamanaka at Mount Fuji. In the afternoon, I took the Odakyu Line from Odawara to Machida Station and then transferred to Yokohama (instead of returning to Shinjuku). In summary, independent travel is a process of learning, improving, gaining, and storing memories... Early planning and an early start make the 3-day pass very worthwhile.

I traveled directly from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko, so I didn't use the Odakyu Line. The pass was very convenient for taking buses to different attractions within Kawaguchiko; I didn't have to worry about bus fares and could enjoy myself to the fullest. However, do pay attention to the bus schedules, and at some bus stops, there were too many people on the return journey, and I experienced not being able to board a full bus. The pass can also be used for trips from Kawaguchiko to Oshino Hakkai and Lake Yamanaka, but be aware that some buses are not covered, so it's safest to ask the driver when boarding. Afterwards, for trips to Gotemba and Hakone, the pass is valid on designated buses. Within Hakone, the mountain railway and cable cars are also covered, except for the one at Hakone Motomiya. The pirate ship rides are unlimited, which is excellent. Finally, the pass can be used for travel from Hakone to Mishima Station.

We highly recommend using the Fuji-Hakone Pass 3 days. It's truly a magic card that allows you to go anywhere with free accommodation and free entry. It greatly helped us with mobility from Shinjuku - Hakone - Yamanaka - Fujikawaguchiko - Yamanaka - back to Shinjuku. Totally worth it!
