Upon arriving at the stargazing spot, the staff had each member lie down on a lounge chair and provided a thick blanket (the temperature was only a few degrees, it was very cold). The first part involved viewing with the naked eye. The staff used an astronomical laser pointer to indicate points in the sky while explaining astronomical knowledge. After viewing with the naked eye, we used astronomical telescopes 🔭 for stargazing. There were two telescopes, and most of the pictures were taken with the smaller one (small, but very powerful). We saw Jupiter's stripes, the Milky Way, a gentle close-up of the moon, and the twinkling stars around the Southern Cross, among other things. It was truly moving to the point of tears. Seeing it live was countless times more beautiful than in photos, because you feel like they are alive, they are moving, they are blooming ⭐ During the process, the staff also provided everyone with a cup of hot chocolate and took souvenir photos for each team member. Finally, we gathered around a fire pit to roast marshmallows 🍡, ending my stargazing trip feeling completely satisfied. 🤗
We saw the Milky Way and learned a lot about stars. I recommend doing this towards the start of your trip—especially if the moon is not full. That way, you can keep spotting stars for the rest of the trip.
On the day of the event, we were informed about the weather conditions for stargazing, and fortunately, it was clear and perfect. We drove to the designated location in the evening, and the directions were very clear. Tables and blankets were already set up at the stargazing spot. The staff's detailed explanations taught me a lot about astronomy. I saw the Milky Way, the Southern Cross, Sirius, and many other stars, and through the telescope, I even saw several nebulae. Before the end, there was hot chocolate and marshmallows roasted over a campfire. The staff also helped me take a photo with the Milky Way, and luckily, I even captured the Southern Lights!
The tour guide thoughtfully prepared hot cocoa with marshmallows and blankets for us, allowing us to lie on the grassland and gaze at the Southern Hemisphere's starry sky. They explained the names of each star, how to find the South Celestial Pole, and more, making it a night full of knowledge and romance ☺️. They also gave us reusable cocoa cups, and every time I see that cup, it reminds me of the magnificent starry sky that night ☺️☺️.
You will receive an email before departure with the weather forecast. If the weather is bad, you will receive a refund. We received an email before departure stating that there was 70% cloud cover. We were able to try it for 10 minutes on-site and then choose to continue or get a refund. After discussing it, we decided that since we had already come all this way, even though it was cloudy, we could still see the stars. Blankets were provided on-site, which indeed kept us much warmer! And afterwards, there was hot chocolate and marshmallows. If you're in New Zealand, you can give stargazing a try.
I had such a great time!!!!!!!! I didn't realize I'd get to experience calves and lambs up close like this, haha. The direct interaction time was so much fun. It's really enjoyable if you keep in mind that there might be some unexpected situations since you're with the sheep without any restrictions. There's a lot of poop on the ground, so please use the brush in front of the restroom, haha.
I was worried that I wouldn't be able to make it in the afternoon due to the rain, but then I received a notification for the 23:15 session, and that the weather conditions would be confirmed by 22:45 at the latest. As it turned out, the sky after the rain was incredibly clear! And the moon had set before 11 PM that day, so it was truly a completely dark sky. The guide's introduction was both humorous and detailed. After introducing the Southern Hemisphere's starry sky, we then used two telescopes to see things invisible to the naked eye. Finally, they helped everyone take a photo under the starry sky, and we were lucky enough to capture a faint aurora australis in the distance. Lastly, if you want to take photos of the starry sky yourself, I highly recommend bringing a tripod.
There's no shuttle, the location is hard to find and very secluded. Don't confuse the Chinese tour and English tour locations. The instructor was professional and patient, providing blankets, hot cocoa, a fire pit with marshmallows, and two different telescopes for stargazing. Although it rained three times that afternoon, I was surprised and very lucky to see such a beautiful and clear starry sky at night! I saw the Southern Cross, Sirius, Orion, Canis Major and Minor, the Jewel Box cluster, nebulae, galaxies, and I even saw a shooting star! Make a wish (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤ But the photos from our session weren't posted on the website, were they deleted?
