Kyoto Higashiyama Gion Kimono & Sessão de fotos (Okimono-ya)

The staff were friendly, but there was only one person serving, so it was quite busy. We had to wait a bit because several groups of customers arrived at the same time. Communication was possible in English, but sometimes when I had trouble choosing and asked for advice on color combinations for accessories, the staff member couldn't offer much and just smiled. The ladies who helped with changing clothes and styling hair were older and spoke Japanese, but they were very friendly. After changing, we waited a while for the photographer to arrive. He was Taiwanese, and everyone was very nice, haha. It was good that there wasn't forced small talk. We're not very good at posing or making expressions, and even though we were given instructions, we felt a bit stiff. However, overall we were satisfied, and we received the photos very quickly the next day. We would consider coming again. Finally, the photographer even helped us return our geta sandals to the shop, and we walked around a bit more before returning to change. The shop is quite small, and there are fewer choices for men, mostly just a few color combinations. Women have more options, but there aren't many accessory choices.

✨ A Truly Unforgettable Kimono Experience ✨ We accidentally went to the wrong branch at first, but the staff quickly transferred our Klook reservation with no issues, and from there everything was pure magic. Wearing a kimono has been a dream of mine since childhood, and Okimonoya made it come true. A special shout-out to Anita and all the lovely ladies who helped us—they were so kind, patient, and attentive while helping us choose the perfect kimono, accessories, and hairstyle. Watching the transformation in the mirror felt like a fairytale. The photoshoot was amazing, with a patient photographer who guided us through each pose and took so many beautiful shots. I also loved that we could keep the kimono all day (and even return it the next morning), which made exploring Kyoto’s temples and streets truly unforgettable.

J'ai adoré l'expérience. J'ai réservé la location de kimono et la séance photo. La location et la préparation du kimono se sont déroulées sans accroc, j'ai été rapidement transformée avec mon kimono et ma coiffure. La séance photo a également été très amusante et mémorable : la photographe était très gentille et attentive à mes besoins, elle m'a demandé quelle ambiance je souhaitais et m'a aidée avec les poses et l'éclairage pour des résultats optimaux. Je le recommanderais à 100 %.

The staff are all super cute and provide very attentive service. Location: Close to Gion Temple. Facilities: Very complete, and the ladies will even help you with your coordination. Safety: Super safe. Experience: The staff are all very friendly and have big smiles, they also helped us dress beautifully, and our hairstyles looked great.

The staff could speak both English and Mandarin, were super helpful and upbeat, even when they had a full house. They were so quick with doing my hairstyle I was shocked — definitely highly skilled professionals.

The staff are all kind and they have superb kimono designs. I went with the pink lace kimono and it’s super cute! Plus, it’s very near the Yasaka Pagoda. I will book here again! 💯

The photographer was very patient, even with two energetic children, and I highly recommend them. They also guided us on how to pose, and we received all the photo files.

The Japanese shop assistant was clearly learning Chinese diligently! Her eye for coordination was excellent, and her aesthetic sense was superb. Later, a male shop assistant who spoke Chinese was also very kind and incredibly nice. The in-store experience was fantastic. After choosing our kimonos, when we went upstairs for the fitting, the师傅 (master/dresser) had the cutest reactions and provided so much emotional value! The hairstylist was also exceptionally skilled; the hairstyle looked great (and also provided immense emotional value, everyone kept complimenting us). We were truly happy, thank you, Okimono-ya~~
