We had a wonderful time during this photo shoot experience! It was our first professional photo shoot, and as two friends, we weren't sure what to expect, but everything was very comfortable and enjoyable from start to finish. The location was excellent: a small, beautiful temple area with very few people around, which made the experience feel peaceful and special. The photographer gave simple and clear instructions for posing, which was especially helpful since we were complete beginners. We never felt awkward and were able to relax and have fun throughout the session. We are very happy with the original photos, which felt natural and captured the experience perfectly. The retouched photos (attached) were nice as well, especially with improvements such as the lighting, but we personally preferred many of the original shots because they felt more natural to us. Overall, this was a memorable experience, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for professional photos in Kyoto!
We had a great experience with this kimono rental service! As two friends visiting Kyoto, we booked the 10:00 AM slot and were a little concerned after reading some comments about it being crowded. While it was busy, it was much more organized than some reviews suggested, and everything ran smoothly. Visitors should expect the full process (choosing a kimono, getting dressed, selecting accessories, and having their hairstyle done) to take around 1 hour, especially during busy times. We felt this was completely reasonable given everything that is included. My friend wanted to wear a men's kimono, and the staff were very accommodating. Although her first color choice was unavailable in her size, they quickly suggested an alternative that she was very happy with. They were also able to do a hairstyle with my short hair, which I really appreciated. A special thank you to the staff member who seemed to be in charge. She was very efficient and gave excellent advice throughout the process.
I had the best experience with them. They gave me enough suggestions on which type of kimonos and obis would look good on me. They also assisted my husband with his Yakuta. The staff was super friendly inspite of being so busy. They gave me a couple of options for hairstyles and the final one turned out to be so beautiful. I would also want to give a special mention to photographer Paul, who clicked such beautiful pictures and guided us with poses and what to do throughout the entire process. Even the unedited photos were so pretty.
I forgot our photographer’s name but she was from Taiwan and she’s so nice and lovely. I have high expectations for photos so I was prepared to edit it on my own. Imagine my surprise when we received our photos and it did not need any editing at all. It was so gooooood. Kudos to the shop and our photographer that day! Thank you so much!
My husband and I booked this trip one day before we left. We departed in Kyoto and got off in Osaka. It was an amazing experience with a great tour guide (Anson), and a good time to experience many cultural places in Kyoto. We had registered for kimono rental in advance, and our tour guide guided us very well to try it on in one location and drop it off in another. This was a 10/10 experience for us!
I booked a kimono rental and hairstyle for my sister and me. The shop was super busy, but the staff were so friendly, even though we were a bit late for our appointment. The staff were super helpful, especially when figuring out how to pair all the accessories with the kimono (since it can be a bit overwhelming with all the options). My sister and I had so much fun; we would definitely do it again!
The workers are very approachable and experienced. They can communicate fluently in Mandarin and English. They were already attending to many customers when I was there, yet I didn't feel neglected or pressured to quickly decide on my kimono design. The person who assisted me was very helpful in giving recommendations on what to pair with my kimono. Since I wanted to do a photoshoot as well, she recommended I upgrade my Kimono (additional JPY10,000), which I did. Although the price exceeded my budget, I have no regrets at all, as my kimono turned out to be very pretty! My suggestion to others considering a photoshoot: just go straight for the premium kimono package so that you don't need to top up.
Many of the staff speak Chinese, so there were no communication issues. I went on my birthday, and the price was very reasonable. My phone and power bank were out of battery at the time, and the shop was willing to lend me a charger, which was very friendly. If you don't know how to match accessories, the staff will even help you choose a belt. Last time in Tokyo, I spent over 300 Hong Kong dollars, and adding a bag cost an extra 500 yen. This shop doesn't charge extra, which is great. Besides the location being a bit far from the subway station, requiring a bus ride, everything else was excellent. It was a fun first experience riding a Japanese bus. The kimonos are beautiful, and the hairstyles designed by the staff are stunning. I will definitely bring my friends back again.
It was a pretty good experience, and I think the most worthwhile part was the hairstyle. The hairstyle was absolutely perfect, and the clothes were also very beautiful. We chose the package that only included clothes and hairstyle, and the clothes in the package were already quite lovely. However, I must say, besides that, there are additional costs for things like adding lace or bows. But it's still acceptable. We added lace tied around the waist and a lace collar. Most of the staff are Chinese, and the person who did my hair was a Japanese lady, so there's no need to worry about communication issues; simple gestures and English are perfectly sufficient. Overall, it was a very good experience; the hair was really curled so beautifully, haha! Oh, and there are accessories like small bags and parasols that you can pick up, which are very pretty and make for a very elegant Kyoto lady look. I won't show my face to everyone, but wearing this to walk around Kiyomizu-dera is truly beautiful…
