Fantastic 5.0
The Tour was at a comfortable pace. Our tour guide, Leo, shared about the interesting facts and history of each places, tips to take night scenery shot without crowd and even provide water due to long bus ride. Overall, it was a great itinerary to see the highlights of Hakodate and south western part of Hokkaido.

After completing the order, I realized the voucher stated that a printed copy was required for redemption. However, upon arrival, I was able to show the voucher on my phone to the ticket agent at the ticket booth. They wrote down the number from my phone, and I was able to redeem the tickets. When redeeming the tickets, you still need to wait in line with those purchasing tickets. Even though it was cherry blossom season, we entered two hours before closing, so there were noticeably fewer people, and we didn't have to wait. It's definitely worth going up to see during cherry blossom season; it's absolutely beautiful.

Fantastic 5.0
I'm satisfied with the service, but one minor disappointment is that purchasing tickets on-site is much cheaper. Usually, there's an assumption that advance booking is more affordable, so the significant price difference is a bit of a letdown—it's about 1.5 times more expensive.

Fantastic 5.0
Baee San was very patient in teaching me how to ride. This was my first time participating in a Segway tour, and I was initially worried I wouldn't be able to ride, but after the lesson, I easily mastered the skills. I felt very safe throughout the entire experience and could freely enjoy zipping through the jungle, which was fantastic! Baee San also showed me a natural hot spring, explained facts about plants and animals, and I even saw a super large bird. There was also afternoon tea during the ride, and Baee San was very happy to share stories, making it a relaxing and enjoyable tour. Onuma Park is beautiful, the air is fresh, and every moment was a delight. Thanks to Baee San and Ito San for their hospitality; it's suitable even for solo travelers! I was even upgraded to a private tour 😁 I'm so satisfied, I highly recommend it.

What to know before visiting Hakodate

What to expect from Hakodate’s top experiences

Hakodate is best known for its observation decks and panoramic viewpoints, followed by a lively mix of tours; cultural experiences register too but at much lower volume. Demand rises and falls through the year, peaking in 2025-04 when sights and guided outings get busiest and tapering off into 2025-08.

Best activities by traveller type

Families will find observation decks especially easy and rewarding — quick to reach and great for everyone. Couples can lean into the range of tours for more immersive or romantic outings, since that category also offers the widest variety. Solo travellers or small groups will appreciate the flexible tour options and the straightforward nature of observation-deck visits.

What travellers should book ahead

Booking advice for travellers: most things in Hakodate can be picked up a day or two before, but the earliest planners still book around three weeks ahead and that matters most during the peak in 2025-04. If you’re travelling in the busiest month, consider securing popular tours and summit or deck access earlier rather than waiting until arrival.

How the main categories compare on price and fit

Observation decks are the easiest, most budget-friendly entry point, typically the cheapest option and ideal for quick visits. Tours sit at the priciest midpoint on average and show the widest spread of prices, so they can suit bargain hunters as well as travellers seeking premium, specialised experiences. Cultural experiences appear less frequently in bookings here but tend to sit nearer the mid-to-premium range and will appeal to travellers prioritising authentic local encounters.
