Fantastic 5.0
After completing the order, I realized the voucher stated that a printed copy was required for redemption. However, upon arrival, I was able to show the voucher on my phone to the ticket agent at the ticket booth. They wrote down the number from my phone, and I was able to redeem the tickets. When redeeming the tickets, you still need to wait in line with those purchasing tickets. Even though it was cherry blossom season, we entered two hours before closing, so there were noticeably fewer people, and we didn't have to wait. It's definitely worth going up to see during cherry blossom season; it's absolutely beautiful.

Fantastic 5.0
I'm satisfied with the service, but one minor disappointment is that purchasing tickets on-site is much cheaper. Usually, there's an assumption that advance booking is more affordable, so the significant price difference is a bit of a letdown—it's about 1.5 times more expensive.

Fantastic 5.0
Our tour guide, Leo, was incredibly attentive, responsible, and polite. The schedule was perfectly arranged. I especially want to mention that when we couldn't get a Lucky Pierrot burger at the main store, he immediately called other branches to ensure we got to try Hakodate's specialty. The burger was truly delicious, and we're very grateful to Leo! We hope to have him guide us around Hakodate again next time. This tour is highly recommended for anyone exploring Hokkaido without a car!!!

What to know before visiting Hakodate

Top experiences and when to visit

Hakodate is best known for its city observation points and a lively selection of guided tours, with observation decks making up the largest share of bookings followed by tours and a handful of cultural experiences. Demand peaks in April, so the city hums with activity in spring and quiets down around February.

Activities matched to different traveller types

Families and groups will find observation decks and easy sightseeing tours especially convenient—these are straightforward, kid-friendly ways to take in panoramic views. Couples often favour the more personalised or premium tour options for romantic or themed outings. Solo travellers and small groups can mix quick observation-deck visits with affordable tours to stretch a modest budget while still seeing a lot.

What travellers from Singapore typically book ahead

Most visitors from Singapore keep plans flexible—typical bookings trend around five days ahead—yet the earliest planners still reserve activities about three weeks out, and that matters most for April when demand peaks. If you’re visiting in April, consider booking popular observation slots and guided tours earlier than you otherwise would.

Comparing categories: price and who they suit

Observation decks are the easiest, most budget-friendly way into Hakodate’s attractions and tend to sit at the lower end of the price range. Tours offer the widest spread of options, from entry-level group outings to premium private experiences, and are the priciest on average—they suit travellers who want guided context or tailored itineraries. Cultural experiences are fewer but steady, appealing to travellers seeking something specifically local and often sitting between the two in terms of selectivity rather than price.
