Fantastic 5.0
This was a hotel I'd wanted to try, so I stayed there while in Hakodate. It's a 5-10 minute walk from Hakodate Station. Before checking in, I booked the OMO5 bus using the QR code instructions and found it very convenient for going to Goryokaku and returning from the Hakodate Monorail Observatory. I had high expectations for breakfast because I heard it was delicious. The food selection was excellent, with the only minor drawback being a long wait due to many weekend guests. I highly recommend it! Plus, there's a MaxValu supermarket right next door.

Room is ok, only size 16 sq is a bit small for two adults with two big luggage. Staffs are friendly , you can have late dinner just 2 minutes walks at 2nd floor of JR station. After check out, if you have some time, you can store your luggage at hotel and enjoy shopping at JR station. Very safe and warm when it’s snowing outside. and we haven’t enough time to explore the public baths and lounge at 12 F.The breakfast is awesome for us, variety foods and tasty. Next time when we visit Hakodate, we will definitely stay at JR inn.

Fantastic 5.0
Convenient Transportation: Right next to Hakodate Station. Breakfast: Many varieties available in the morning and evening, quite good. It's a shame the salmon roe is served in small dishes instead of being self-serve. Service: Guests staying on the 11th floor or higher can go to the 13th-floor lounge for drinks and snacks, but the front desk didn't mention this during check-in; I discovered it myself. If you need to do laundry, there are coin-operated washing machines on the 4th floor.

Fantastic 5.0
This hotel was a great choice for my stay. The view from the room was lovely, whether overlooking the sea or the area around the Morning Market. What really stood out to me was how convenient the room facilities were. Every room comes with its own microwave, washing machine, and dryer, which made the stay much more comfortable and hassle-free. The staff were also friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. I would happily recommend this hotel to others.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is comfortable and has an onsen, but what truly stands out is the breakfast. It's incredibly diverse, delicious, and uses very high-quality ingredients. The price is a bit high, but it matches the quality you receive.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is good, and the front desk staff provided satisfactory service. The room also had a window with a view. The lobby offers a 24-hour complimentary coffee machine, and free ramen is available late at night. The hot spring area has a variety of popsicles to choose from. The best part is that there's a FamilyMart convenience store right inside the building downstairs, so you don't have to worry about not having anything to eat, even if it's snowing or raining (there are also many great restaurants across the street). For breakfast, if you go too late, there will be fewer options, and they don't seem to restock much. Personally, I didn't find it particularly delicious or a must-try. Additionally, the hotel's air conditioning system is centralized; if it's set to heating for the day, your room will only have heating, and you can't adjust it. Please note that a hot spring tax will be added to your bill upon checkout (based on the number of people and days). This is a local Japanese rule, and you must pay it even if you don't use the hot springs.

More about Hakodate hotels

Where to stay in Hakodate: overview and value

Accommodation in Hakodate ranges from modest budget rooms up to markedly pricier luxury properties, with top-tier rates running roughly 3.8 times higher than the most affordable options — so there’s a noticeable gap between the cheapest and most premium stays. The best balance between cost and quality tends to sit in the premium tier, which is the sweet spot for travellers who want more comfort without jumping to the highest price band.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy options sit at the lower end and are clearly the most affordable choice for travellers prioritising budget over extras. Standard rooms cluster not far above economy, offering a modest step up for those who want slightly more comfort without much extra spend. Premium represents the biggest value proposition for many guests and is where the market’s best balance is found; it suits travellers looking for a noticeable upgrade in comfort while keeping costs reasonable. The largest price leap comes when moving from premium to luxury, and that jump typically signals a decision point for anyone weighing whether the highest-end amenities are worth the additional cost.

When travellers from Singapore typically book

For travellers from Singapore, the priciest month is December while the cheapest month is March, so a budget-led trip is better suited to March when rates tend to be lower. Rooms in Hakodate are often booked several weeks ahead — typical bookings are made about 41 days in advance — so if you want choice, try to reserve around that timeframe, especially if travelling in the priciest month.
