Fantastic 5.0
Our tour guide, Leo, was incredibly attentive, responsible, and polite. The schedule was perfectly arranged. I especially want to mention that when we couldn't get a Lucky Pierrot burger at the main store, he immediately called other branches to ensure we got to try Hakodate's specialty. The burger was truly delicious, and we're very grateful to Leo! We hope to have him guide us around Hakodate again next time. This tour is highly recommended for anyone exploring Hokkaido without a car!!!

Fantastic 5.0
After completing the order, I realized the voucher stated that a printed copy was required for redemption. However, upon arrival, I was able to show the voucher on my phone to the ticket agent at the ticket booth. They wrote down the number from my phone, and I was able to redeem the tickets. When redeeming the tickets, you still need to wait in line with those purchasing tickets. Even though it was cherry blossom season, we entered two hours before closing, so there were noticeably fewer people, and we didn't have to wait. It's definitely worth going up to see during cherry blossom season; it's absolutely beautiful.

Fantastic 5.0
I'm satisfied with the service, but one minor disappointment is that purchasing tickets on-site is much cheaper. Usually, there's an assumption that advance booking is more affordable, so the significant price difference is a bit of a letdown—it's about 1.5 times more expensive.

What to know before visiting Hakodate

Top experiences at a glance in Hakodate

Hakodate’s Things to Do are led by Observation decks and Tours, with observation points drawing the most bookings and tours showing the widest range of options and prices. Demand follows a clear seasonal pulse — bookings swell around April and dip in February, so plan visits accordingly.

Best picks for families, couples and solo travellers

Families will find observation decks ideal for easy, kid-friendly sightseeing and quick photo stops, while guided Tours offer variety that can suit family interests when you want someone else to handle the logistics. Couples often favour the city’s observation points for views and the more intimate, curated Tours for food, history or off-the-beaten-track experiences. Solo travellers and small groups will appreciate the flexibility of Tours — from budget-friendly options to premium experiences — and the quick-access appeal of observation decks for independent sightseeing.

What travellers from Hong Kong should book ahead

Most visitors keep plans flexible in Hakodate, with typical bookings made around five days before travel; the earliest planners often book about three weeks out, and that extra lead time matters most for travel in April. If you’re travelling from Hong Kong during the peak period in April, lock in popular Tours sooner rather than later; observation decks are the easiest to pick up closer to your trip.

How categories compare on price and who they suit

Observation decks are the entry-level way into Hakodate’s sights — typically the cheapest and the easiest option for most travellers. Tours span the widest price range, from budget to premium, making them the best fit for travellers seeking variety or a more customised experience. Cultural experiences appear less often but sit between the two in positioning, suiting visitors after a focused local or hands-on activity.
