Things to do in Hozugawa River Boat Ride (Hozugawa Kudari)

A peaceful and entertaining boat ride through the river. I felt safe 100% of the time and the boatmen were funny and entertaining. safety: 100% - everyone wears life vests experience: scenic view of beautiful nature, lush green forests everywhere (would be amazing during Sakura season and later in October/November when the trees change colors) with some fast moments on the river instructor: proficient in English, absolute charming and knowledgeable about the area. also: super funny - everyone was laughing location:the ride ends near entrance of Arashiama Bamboo forest

Although there was a bit of a language barrier, the tour guide made a great effort to communicate using English and illustrations. The boatmen were also very dedicated, professional, and tried hard to get everyone involved. Although the weather was quite warm and the water level was low, which made the ride less thrilling, we look forward to visiting again in other seasons like cherry blossom or autumn foliage times. We also paid out of pocket for a rickshaw ride in Arashiyama, taking a 45-minute tour through the bamboo grove, and the kids loved it too.

hua hua kept took care of the group and kept things entertaining for everyone. he also helped to translate in english and mandarin so everyone on the bus could understand his instructions and explanations well. it was a great experience ! you will surely have a great experience with hua hua as your guide! 😆

We boarded the bus in Kyoto, and our tour group consisted of members from various countries. Our guide, Xiao Shen, switched into four-language mode, introducing everything in English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. His humorous and engaging style made everyone feel very comfortable. Xiao Shen handled all ticket purchases, coordination, and provided information about the train, Arashiyama route, and meeting points via Line. This allowed us to explore freely and simply meet at the designated time. The driver was excellent, providing a smooth ride that prevented motion sickness, and the seats were clean and comfortable. During the Hozugawa River boat ride, the weather was perfect. Four boatmen guided us downstream, introducing the environment and rock formations with simple animal vocabulary, accompanied by physical interactions and occasional tricks from the boatmen. With a gentle breeze and beautiful scenery, the trip was truly enjoyable.

This was by far the best Klook tour I’ve ever been on! My husband and I absolutely loved our guide, Mr. Joe. He was incredibly kind and provided clear, detailed information about the itinerary, meeting point, and drop-off location. We especially appreciated how he shared interesting history about Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara along the way. His English was very clear, which made communication easy and enjoyable. We were also lucky enough to ride Cabin No. 5 on the Sagano Romantic Train, and we didn’t miss out on the Hozugawa River boat rafting experience either. It was truly a memorable day! Okani Mr Joe! Hope we meet again!

a real highlight of our japan trip. Beautiful and a great way to spend the day. great price and fave was the river tour. would highly recommend.
