Fantastic 5.0
Wakayama Kobo Hotel is conveniently located, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Next door is a public library combined with Starbucks and Tsutaya Bookstore, where you can drink coffee, read books, and buy stationery or souvenirs. The rooftop open-air bath has a wide view. Soaking in the hot spring is relaxing and healing, which is the favorite enjoyment of this trip and worth revisiting. Cleanliness: Excellent Breakfast: Simple, Japanese-style, not bad, matched with comfortable and relaxing scenery

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is very convenient, close to Wakayama JR Station and connected to Kintetsu Department Store. The bus terminal downstairs makes it easy to take a bus to Kuroshio Market or other attractions. Mr. Cao, the front desk receptionist, was very friendly. We paid extra for breakfast, and the only thing to mention is that the breakfast was just average, not particularly delicious.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel's location is convenient, just a 5-minute walk from the station. Although the hotel seems a bit old, everything else is great. The public bath, though small, is very unique, and they offer free popsicles and Yakult. There's also complimentary late-night ramen at 9:30 PM. I would choose this hotel again on my next visit to Wakayama.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel has convenient transportation and isn't far from the city center. Almost all rooms have ocean views, perfect for relaxing. You can take a shuttle, and if it's outside of the shuttle hours, there are also buses available. The room decor isn't old and outdated, it's very comfortable. Luckily, there weren't many people during my stay, so I almost had the public bath all to myself 👍

If you plan to explore the Northern Kansai region, this pass is a must-buy, as it covers all reserved seats without any additional charges. We used this single pass for our trips to Maizuru, Amanohashidate, Fukuchiyama, Yumura Onsen, Kinosaki Onsen, and Kobe before returning to Osaka! It's incredibly cost-effective for a two-day trip to Amanohashidate and the surrounding area! Price: Excellent value for money Included Transportation Services: The two-day pass for Amanohashidate covers all train, boat, and cable car fares for a short period, allowing you to save time and fully experience Amanohashidate. Pass Coverage Area: Valid throughout Northern Kansai, though you might not be able to visit everything. Redemption Instructions: You can exchange your voucher and reserve seats directly at the JR station in Kansai Airport, where Chinese-speaking staff are available. Service begins at 5:30 AM! Seat Reservation Process: You can reserve your reserved seats later at JR station automatic ticket machines or by speaking with staff at the JR ticket counter.

Fantastic 5.0
The Kansai–Hiroshima Pass is definitely worth it. It includes the sightseeing bus that lets you hop on and off at Hiroshima's major attractions, which saved me both time and money while exploring the city. I do feel that one day isn't enough to fully experience Hiroshima, as there are many more places worth visiting. The pass also offers excellent value because it can be used on JR lines to travel to other destinations within its coverage

definitely great value for money. the pass was easy to use and made the trip very enjoyable. you can buy the add on “limited” train ticket that does not require a change of train half way. I upgraded to the limited train on the outbound trip and took rhe regular trains back and it was just as easy. you literally just hop off one train, stay in the same platform and hop on the next to get back to the city. the unlimited bus ride in the mountains was fanatic too. just show driver the pass when you got off. saves a lot of money indeed. highly recommended.

This helped me a lot to go to all the places I've been to in Kansai area. Since I am new to how the train system works in Japan, I tend to get lost and with this pass I never have to worry about spending extra for transpo if I end up in the wrong station as this is unlimited.

Fantastic 5.0
It's convenient to use the Haruka Limited Express when traveling from Kansai Airport to Osaka or Kyoto. It's even better that you can also use the bus service operating between the Inner and Outer Shrines of Ise Jingu. For a trip covering Nagoya, Ise, Wakayama, and Osaka, it's great to be able to use JR along the coastline, mountains, and valleys. Included transportation: Ise City Bus Pass available areas: Osaka, Nara, Wakayama, Ise City, Nagoya

What to know before visiting Wakayama

Overview of Wakayama and what draws visitors

Wakayama is a compact destination known for attraction passes and guided tours, with travellers concentrating in a distinct high season. Demand peaks late in the year while the quietest bookings happen in winter, so the city’s rhythm swings between brisk autumn months and much lighter January demand.

When to visit for prices, crowds and atmosphere

Klook booking data shows demand peaks in November and dips most sharply in January. Prices on Klook tend to climb toward that busy autumn period — November is typically the priciest month on record, while May usually appears as the least expensive. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, aim for May or the quieter winter stretch; for peak-season atmosphere and events, November delivers the busiest vibe. Overall, demand and prices mostly move together here, with higher demand coinciding with higher prices around the November peak.

Tips for travellers from the United States

Most experiences in Wakayama can be booked close to travel dates: Klook’s aggregate booking pattern shows very short typical lead times, though some early booking activity appears up to about a week out. If you’re travelling for the November peak, plan a bit earlier to secure popular tours and passes; for off-peak trips you can be more spontaneous and still find options on Klook. Use attraction passes and local tours listed on Klook to bundle experiences and simplify planning.
