What to expect
After enjoying the hip and fun city of Taipei, why not extend your exploration of Taiwan and join this night tour of Jiufen? Jiufen is a small mountain town that was once popular as a gold mining destination. It's most famous for being the setting of 'Spirited Away', an award-winning film animation, as well as red lanterns and stone staircases. Explore this town at your own pace but be careful not to be lost in its interconnecting alleyways and narrow streets! After a few hours of exploration, head over to Raohe Night Market, one of the oldest night markets in Taipei. Experience local food, and buy souvenirs and clothing at the many stalls and stores, too. This tour is the best way to experience the local culture of Taipei!

Reviews
I really enjoyed Wanwan's tour. He is charming and fun. It was my first time in Taiwan, but I'm glad I joined him because I was able to move around smoothly. Jiufen was too crowded, but I enjoyed the atmosphere. The pepper buns and Yakult green tea mix drinks that he recommended at the night market were delicious. I participated alone, but the person sitting next to me on the bus was also participating alone, and I was glad that we ended up having a little conversation, perhaps because of seating arrangements, as he was considerate.
Our guide was very kind, and we were lucky enough to enjoy a rain-free day. The paths are narrow and there are many stairs, so holding an umbrella would be quite difficult if it rained. Reviews said there would be enough time, but the time flew by as we shopped for souvenirs and grabbed a bite to eat, and we ended up getting back to the meeting point right on time.
The guide was very kind and told us about many tourist spots, so we enjoyed the trip very much. At first, we were unsure whether to go on a tour or go on our own, but in the end, we thought that the tour with a guide was better. You may not need to include meals.
This is a simple tour that includes a 30-40 minute stop at Jiufen and the Raohe Street Night Market. The guide entertained us with interesting facts and trivia about Jiufen along the way. Seeing the huge crowds at the Jiufen bus terminal, I highly recommend taking this tour.
I wanted to go to Jiufen in the evening, but I was worried about the bus or taxi on the way back, so I chose a tour. It turned out to be the right decision! On the way there, we were given advice on the way around and recommended spots, and the return trip was smooth. The guide was a good talker and it was fun. The driver was also smiling, so it became a good memory. We strolled around, relaxed at a tea shop, bought souvenirs, and took photos. It was a tour with plenty of time!!
Hosshan is the best! Our guide, Kaikai, is a nice young man who looks like Hosshan. He is very caring and good at explaining the main points, so the 5 hours went by in a flash! He made self-paid printed sheets of information about the photo spots in Jiufen, relaxing with tea, and the pepper buns at the night market, things you can only do there and things you definitely have to eat. Thank you! 41 people are your fans!
If you go to Jiufen by yourself on Saturday (and Sunday), there will be a long line to get on and off the bus, and it will take some time. It was smooth. It would be nice if the Japanese guide's tour was a little cheaper. (It seems to be considerably cheaper than other companies) The guide this time was speaking in beautiful and clear Japanese. He was a very cool and nice person. I would definitely like to participate in other tours.
We arrived in Jiufen just before 6pm, and the bus stop was crowded, but Jiufen itself was empty. The other buses were tours leaving Jiufen after 6pm, so we were able to get into the tea shop and taro ball shop recommended by the guide right away. Since we arrived in Taiwan on the same day, we could only apply for a later tour, but it turned out to be a good experience. Api's guide was very easy to understand and was very helpful. The bus driver was also very friendly and drove carefully. On the way back, we chose to disband at the night market. The night market was close to the station, so it was convenient to take the MRT back.
I joined the Tomo-chan tour during the Obon holiday. The recommended pineapple cake was so delicious, I bought a lot. It was so much fun! I didn't have enough time at the night market and had to leave with the group, so I couldn't thank you properly... Thank you so much!
I was hesitant to go to Kyufun by public transport on my own, as I was scared of the crowds (especially on weekends and holidays...), so this time I took this tour and was able to go there at my own pace on a chartered bus, which was a huge benefit. I was so glad that I joined the tour. What's more, it was a beautiful sunny day, which is rare in Kyufun! We got to see a beautiful night view. My husband, who took me there for the first time, was also very satisfied. It was really great... but maybe it's the negative effect of the weak yen? I still feel that the tour price is a bit high.
