Fantastic 5.0
Rating this maybe 4.5/5. Location is 650meters from Takayama sta. No building also in front of their hotel so the view was good. Staff was accommodating. Smooth check-in. Room was spacious enough, with table and chair. Free water, reading area, and complete amenities in the lobby.

Fantastic 5.0
The apartment hotel room has a washer-dryer combo, a kitchen for cooking, and a bathtub. You can also get free hot spring tickets at the front desk to use at a hotel that's a 13-minute walk away. The only downside is that the dryer isn't very effective; clothes were still a bit damp after six hours of drying.

Fantastic 5.0
I've stayed here many times. It's always clean. This time I got a slightly older room, but it was still good. Breakfast is included, and there's ramen available late at night. You can use the private onsen without a reservation; if the sign is available, you can enter right away. Just flip the sign on the door to 'occupied' when you're using it, and then flip it back to 'available' after you're done.

Fantastic 5.0
Good location with many restaurants and eateries nearby. It is also an easy walk to the central tourist area. The hotel is located three to five minutes from the Takayama JR Station and bus station, so it is convenient for you to get around. The staff is friendly, the room is clean, and breakfast variety is fantastic! They also offer daily supper, either sweet or savory, for the guests. There is also onsen (public bath) in the hotel.

Fantastic 5.0
Location was superb, being right next to the train station, which was why I booked it. The public foot bath on the top floor was also very welcome, especially as I had just come in from Kamikochi. 6 mins walk away is Cafe Rin-Rin, a mom and pop cafe that felt like you were stepping back in time, and served delicious french toast. The room was comfortable and good-sized for a solo traveller, and the washing machine was a godsend. The only thing that was very annoying was the lamp sitting over the small table, as I kept hitting my head on it. It was at a very inconvenient spot and height.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is very good. The room is spacious with a private onsen and separate air conditioning. Parking costs a small fee. There's a welcome drink of beer or orange juice. Breakfast is good and standard. It's quite far from the train station and the city, but it's peaceful.

More about Takayama hotels

Staying in Takayama: what to expect

Staying in Takayama covers a wide range of budgets — the top luxury rooms run roughly 6.5 times higher than the most affordable economy options, so you can go from very budget to distinctly upscale. The best balance between cost and comfort sits in the premium tier, which tends to feel like the smartest compromise for most travellers.

How hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy rooms are the lowest-cost choice and appeal to budget-conscious travellers who prioritise price over extras. Standard rooms step up from economy into a middle ground for everyday comfort without a big price leap. Moving into premium delivers noticeably better quality and is the biggest value sweet spot before a major price increase; this is where many travellers find the best balance of comfort and cost. The jump from premium to luxury is the largest step up, making luxury a clear choice for those seeking a distinctly higher-end stay and willing to pay substantially more.

When travellers from Singapore tend to book

For travellers from Singapore, rates are cheapest in 9月 and most expensive in 10月, so a budget-led trip is best scheduled around 9月 when nightly rates are noticeably lower than the priciest month. Rooms here are typically locked in about 40 days ahead, so planning a few weeks in advance—especially if travelling in October—helps secure the options you want.
