Fantastic 5.0
Rating this maybe 4.5/5. Location is 650meters from Takayama sta. No building also in front of their hotel so the view was good. Staff was accommodating. Smooth check-in. Room was spacious enough, with table and chair. Free water, reading area, and complete amenities in the lobby.

Fantastic 5.0
The apartment hotel room has a washer-dryer combo, a kitchen for cooking, and a bathtub. You can also get free hot spring tickets at the front desk to use at a hotel that's a 13-minute walk away. The only downside is that the dryer isn't very effective; clothes were still a bit damp after six hours of drying.

Fantastic 5.0
I've stayed here many times. It's always clean. This time I got a slightly older room, but it was still good. Breakfast is included, and there's ramen available late at night. You can use the private onsen without a reservation; if the sign is available, you can enter right away. Just flip the sign on the door to 'occupied' when you're using it, and then flip it back to 'available' after you're done.

Fantastic 5.0
Good location with many restaurants and eateries nearby. It is also an easy walk to the central tourist area. The hotel is located three to five minutes from the Takayama JR Station and bus station, so it is convenient for you to get around. The staff is friendly, the room is clean, and breakfast variety is fantastic! They also offer daily supper, either sweet or savory, for the guests. There is also onsen (public bath) in the hotel.

Fantastic 5.0
Location was superb, being right next to the train station, which was why I booked it. The public foot bath on the top floor was also very welcome, especially as I had just come in from Kamikochi. 6 mins walk away is Cafe Rin-Rin, a mom and pop cafe that felt like you were stepping back in time, and served delicious french toast. The room was comfortable and good-sized for a solo traveller, and the washing machine was a godsend. The only thing that was very annoying was the lamp sitting over the small table, as I kept hitting my head on it. It was at a very inconvenient spot and height.

Fantastic 5.0
The hotel is very good. The room is spacious with a private onsen and separate air conditioning. Parking costs a small fee. There's a welcome drink of beer or orange juice. Breakfast is good and standard. It's quite far from the train station and the city, but it's peaceful.

More about Takayama hotels

What staying in Takayama feels like

Staying in Takayama stretches from modest economy rooms up to distinctly upscale luxury properties, with the top tier typically costing about 6.5 times more than the bottom — so your budget choice makes a noticeable difference. The best balance between comfort and cost tends to be the premium tier, which often represents the smartest value for travellers wanting better space and finishes without jumping to the highest price bracket.

How the hotel classes compare and who they suit

Economy options sit at the lowest end and appeal to travellers prioritising savings over extras, while standard rooms step up with clearer comfort and a mid-market fit. The premium tier is the sweet spot and offers noticeably better quality than standard; this is also where the biggest decision point happens, because moving beyond premium to luxury is the largest price leap. Luxury accommodations command a substantial premium over premium and suit travellers who want the most refined experience and are ready to pay for it.

When travellers from the Philippines typically book

Rooms in Takayama are cheapest in 9月 and most expensive in 10月; if your trip is budget-led, aim for 9月 when nightly rates trend lower. Travellers from the Philippines typically book about 40 days ahead, so you may want to lock in plans a few weeks in advance, and consider booking earlier if travelling in 10月 when rates rise.
