Fantastic 5.0
We used the Kyushu Rail Pass North, and it was incredibly convenient and worth every yen. The trains were comfortable and easy to navigate, making travel between cities smooth and stress-free. It’s definitely a great value for anyone exploring northern Kyushu. Our only regret is that we weren’t able to visit all the prefectures and cities included in the pass—there’s just so much to see! But that only gives us a reason to come back and make the most of it next time.

It's super easy to use today; just use the card and you can redeem it at the automatic machine. Just show the QR code and scan your passport, then select the start date. It's very convenient now and worth it. Just traveling to Hiroshima alone makes it worth it, especially riding the Shinkansen.

Easy booking through Klook. Super easy redemption at the airport. Seat reservation: No problem at the machine. But not always necessary, sometimes we just rode in the unreserved car. Staff always very friendly. We used it in Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Hiroshima. Everything worked out great.

Overall, the value for money isn't great; you save a little, but not much. As for the activities, the Yanagawa boat ride lasting over an hour was pretty good. The boatman, an elderly gentleman in his seventies, sang and talked for nearly 70-80 minutes straight, always with a smile. He sings Mandarin songs and knows how to entertain the people on board. Although it was a bit sunny, the time passed quickly. But besides the boat ride, there's not much else to do in Yanagawa. Dazaifu is quite boring, just a shopping street. The main hall is under renovation, with a temporary structure in front, which I actually found more interesting. What attracted me to Dazaifu were the various large and giant trees; it's rare to see trees that take seven or eight people to hug in China. You can see quite a few in Dazaifu, but otherwise, it's just the usual Tenmangu shrine stuff, nothing special.

Exchange (Usage) Guide: Jimmy was a really kind guide. He was fluent in Chinese and English. I listened intently as if taking an English listening comprehension test, but only understood about 1/3 of it, so I contacted the guide via KakaoTalk, and he was worried and explained it to me in Korean..! 🥹 I went with my family of 5, and I was so grateful that he took good care of us. The photo Jimmy took in Mount Aso was the best photo from the trip! Thank you so much, Jimmy. Price: Very reasonable Included Transportation: The bus seats are a little small, please expect to arrive around 7:10-7:20 PM and make restaurant reservations accordingly.

Traveling from Busan to Fukuoka overnight is a fantastic way to save time, though it's not recommended if you're prone to seasickness. We opted for the most expensive "Special Room" cabin, which had its own bathroom and balcony (though you can't go out on the balcony while the ship is leaving port). The space was very comfortable, with a small area to spread out luggage. The bathroom had plenty of hot water and good water pressure, and the hairdryer worked quickly! You don't need to arrive at Busan Port too early. Check-in for your ferry ticket is before 6:30 PM local time, and customs closes at 7:30 PM local time, so just make sure to go through customs before then. There's a tax refund counter to the left before baggage inspection when entering customs. Boarding begins from 7:40 PM to 8:00 PM. Passengers usually line up their luggage to reserve their spot for the ship's only elevator. There's a very long walk to the boarding entrance (similar to an airport jet bridge). The ship doesn't leave Busan Port until 10:30 PM, and the restaurant closes at 9:10 PM. The next day, disembarkation begins at 7:30 AM. If you want to disembark early, you can take your luggage to line up beforehand, but if you're on a high floor, the elevator won't be available (it starts at 7:30 AM), so you'll need to carry your luggage down the stairs. Once you pass through Japanese customs, you can begin your itinerary in Fukuoka!

Fantastic 5.0
Sanyo Sanin pass was very great and easy to use when traveling in Kanto region. we have used it on our travels all the way from Hiroshima, Himeji and Kobe. Highly recommended it for people who wanted to explore outside of Kyoto and Osaka. Shinkansen was very punctual (unless there are unfortunate events and bad weather conditions). It offered unlimited travel on JR trains, including the shinkansen (except Nozomi/Mizuho), which made moving between cities like Hiroshima, Okayama, and Fukuoka incredibly easy and affordable. I saved a lot compared to buying individual tickets, and the convenience of just hopping on and off trains with a pass was unbeatable.

The 2-day Kyushu SunQ Pass is a great value, allowing you to ride buses throughout northern Kyushu. Activate it by entering your email address; you'll receive a password via email. Use this password to unlock the code, which starts the activation. You can then use it to reserve buses to other cities.
