The trip was very smooth and we really liked our guide Tom. he was very nice and accommodating and can speak 3 languages (chinese, english, japanese). the lunch spot he recommended to us in lake Toya was absolutely delicious as well! Enjoyed the trip overall but I do wish we had more time at each spot. though i understand there is limited time overall.

Overall, it was a trip focused on hitting many spots, with about 20-45 minutes spent at each attraction. We had more time at Lake Toya to watch the fireworks, and the tour guide was very friendly! Although the fireworks weren't on a grand scale, it was still a nice experience to see Japanese fireworks.

As it was my first time in Sapporo, I was a bit unfamiliar with the roads, but the tour guide was very patient and helped with directions via WeChat beforehand. The customized departure time perfectly met my expectations. At each attraction, they provided explanations and helped us avoid crowds so we could take photos comfortably. They even offered to take pictures for us, which was a great emotional value. For the Lake Toya fireworks display in the evening, they offered many suggestions and respected everyone's wishes, allowing us to explore freely. On the return trip, they thoughtfully asked and assisted in dropping us off near our accommodation, which was excellent. If any friends come to Sapporo in the future, I will highly recommend this guide.

I had a wonderful tour experience! Everything was well organized, enjoyable, and exceeded our expectations. A special thanks to Mr. Kevin for being such an excellent and accommodating tour guide. He was friendly, attentive, and always made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the trip. One thing I especially appreciated was how he took beautiful photos for each of us at every location, helping us capture unforgettable memories from the tour. His professionalism, patience, and dedication truly made the experience even more special. We highly recommend this tour, and we are grateful to Mr. Kevin for making it such a memorable journey. Fantastic 5.0
Our tour at Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival was truly magical and worth every minute! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with free sweet treats, which was such a thoughtful and cozy touch. The ice museum itself was breathtaking. The intricate ice sculptures, glowing blue ice formations, and beautifully illuminated displays made the entire place feel like a winter fairytale. Walking around the venue with the stunning backdrop of Lake Shikotsu made everything even more special. It’s not ideal to visit late in the afternoon because traffic going to the area can get very heavy. The convenience and stress-free experience made a huge difference. Overall, it was an amazing winter experience beautiful scenery, impressive ice art, and well-organized timing. Highly recommended it was a memorable visit! ❄️

What to know before visiting Chitose

Quick snapshot of Chitose and what to expect

Chitose is a compact gateway city where tours, zoos & aquariums and observation-deck style experiences dominate bookings. Demand swings through the year, with a strong winter peak and a pronounced late-summer lull, so the rhythm of visitor numbers is seasonal rather than steady.

Best times to visit for crowds and prices

Klook booking data shows January is the busiest month while August is the quietest. Prices move independently at times: they climb to a high around March and fall to a low around June, so the months with the lightest crowds are not always the cheapest. If you want lower prices and smaller crowds, aim for June or the quieter late-summer months; for peak-season atmosphere, visit in January or around December when demand rises.

Tips for travellers from Singapore

Most travellers from Singapore typically book activities about two weeks in advance, with many decisions made a few days before travel as well. For short stays this makes Chitose easy to visit spontaneously, but if you plan to travel in peak months (January and December) consider securing popular tours a bit earlier. Use Klook to compare available tours and experiences so you can lock in what fits your schedule without overplanning.
