What is JR Tohoku-South Hokkaido Rail Pass?
The JR Tohoku-South Hokkaido Rail Pass provides seamless travel across the picturesque Tohoku and South Hokkaido regions, offering unlimited rides on JR trains for 6 consecutive days.
What transportations and routes are covered?
This pass grants access to both reserved and non-reserved seats in the ordinary car on various transportation services, including:
- Hokkaido Shinkansen (Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto ～ Shin-Aomori)
- Tohoku Shinkansen (Shin-Aomori ～ Shin-Shirakawa)
- Akita Shinkansen (Akita ～ Morioka)
- Yamagata Shinkansen (Shinjo ～ Shin-Shirakawa)
- JR Hokkaido lines
- JR East lines (including BRT)
- Aoimori Railway
- Iwate Galaxy Railway (IGR)
- Sendai Airport Transit

- Confirmation email and Klook voucher can not be used to redeem the actual JR Pass in Japan. Only the mailed Paper Exchange Order can be used for redemption
Booking guidelines
- Booking your JR Pass: we suggest booking your JR Pass in advance, choosing your intended travel date on the calendar. This date is not the activation date but rather your planned travel date
- Exchanging for physical JR Pass: after purchasing the JR Pass on Klook, you’ll receive a Paper Exchange Order for each traveller. Remember that you have 90 days from the purchase date to exchange this Exchange Order for the physical JR Pass in Japan at an Official Exchange Office
- Activation and travel: following the exchange, you have 30 days to activate your JR Pass and commence your train travel adventures in Japan
Pass eligibility
- Free for children aged 0-5
- Starting April 1, 2025, all non-Japanese passport holders are eligible to purchase and use the pass. The "Temporary Visitor" entry status will not be required.
- Please note that you must present your original passport at the time of purchase. Copies of passports or residence cards will not be accepted.
