Fantastic 5.0
On the left side after u exit the ticket gates in Nagano Station, u can see the hotel immediately upon exiting because it is just across the street. Check in was fast, the staff were friendly & the amenities are available in the lobby. The room size is not too big but I liked the complimentary soap and shampoo, they felt great on the skin & hair. What makes this place unique is the contrast between the two sides of the station. The East Exit side where the hotel is located is much quieter at night, many houses dimming their lights early. On the other hand, the Zenkoji Exit side (the right side of the gate) is very lively and glamorous. The city feels like it has two completely different faces! I am very pleased with the easy access to the train station and the bus terminal. From here, you can easily take a bus to the Alpine Route, Hakuba, Kamikochi, or Jigokudani Monkey Park. Zenkoji Temple is also close by, about a 15-minute walk. The nearest coin laundry is a little over 1 km away.

The location is excellent, with direct access to Nagano Station and the Midori shopping center. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff are helpful and friendly. It's convenient for transportation, shopping, and dining. There's direct access to Nagano Station, the bus terminal, and the Midori shopping center. It's also close to Zenkoji Temple and the Togakushi bus stop, as well as Don Quijote and various restaurants.

Fantastic 5.0
The room isn't large, but the service and meals more than make up for the space. There's a 24-hour supermarket nearby, and the fridge is stocked with beer, apple juice, and green tea. The breakfast is especially delicious, featuring local Nagano dishes, fresh fruits and vegetables, and excellent bread.

Fantastic 5.0
This is an excellent way to experience an authentic Japanese Ryokan. The twisting hallways, the spacious tatami mat rooms, the delicious breakfast, the onsen, and the kind elderly couple who run the whole place come together to make a homey and relaxing stay. It’s quite close to Zenkōji temple and along the main strip of shops making it an excellent location. If you are looking for a Ryokan in Nagano, I fully recommend this one.

This one is quite close to the JR station and bus terminal. Room is a bit small so mind the luggage.

Fantastic 5.0
We stayed on other branches of Toyoko Inn before but this one was by far the best for us because of the much bigger space. We used to fit on a double or queen bed but now that our son is considered an adult on the occupancy count, we were required two or three beds. We got a triple sharing room so there's enough space for our luggages and space to move around. There is even a sofa and a ref. There are windows with a view. We loved looking out on it in the morning. Their buffet breakfast was also a plus. Just enough to fuel and jumpstart your day. The window view on their dining room in the morning was just lovely. You can watch the sunrise there while eating your breakfast. There's an ice machine and vendo plus washing machines so you can do your laundry. The staff were always nice. Just don't forget to check out on time because they will surely charge you for the extension. Location is a few meters to the JR Nagano station and near a park. The Christmas market was there last December.

More about Nagano hotels

What staying in Nagano feels like

Staying in Nagano offers a fairly compact price spread: the top nightly rates are roughly 2.8 times higher than the most affordable options, so you can pick between budget-friendly rooms and noticeably pricier ones without an enormous step to luxury. The best balance for value seekers is the economy tier, which typically represents the most cost-effective choice.

Comparing economy, standard and premium hotels

Economy properties sit well below the others and suit travellers who prioritise saving on accommodation. Moving up to standard is the biggest step in price and marks the main decision point for travellers weighing comfort against cost—the standard tier delivers a clear upgrade over economy. Premium rooms sit above standard and appeal to those wanting more comfort and space; they cost more but remain within a moderate range compared with the cheapest options. Overall, most travellers choose between keeping costs low in economy or paying the jump to standard for a noticeably higher level of comfort.

When travellers from the Philippines typically book

For travellers from the Philippines, the priciest month is August and the cheapest month is June; a budget-led trip will be easiest in June when rates are lowest. Rooms here are commonly booked about 27 days in advance, so you can stay fairly flexible but expect many travellers to lock in plans a few weeks ahead—booking earlier becomes more common in the priciest month.
