The hotel is right across Nagano station. Midori Nagano (shopping mall) and a 7-Eleven are close by so you have a number of food options or if there's anything you want to buy (like omiyage). Water temperature and pressure worked well. The bed was pretty comfortable. The air conditioning worked fine. You can control the fan strength (low-mid-high); but you can't adjust the temperature as it's a centralized air conditioning setting. I was a bit disappointed that the toilet didn't seem as clean as I hoped it would be.

On the left side after u exit the ticket gates in Nagano Station, u can see the hotel immediately upon exiting because it is just across the street. Check in was fast, the staff were friendly & the amenities are available in the lobby. The room size is not too big but I liked the complimentary soap and shampoo, they felt great on the skin & hair. What makes this place unique is the contrast between the two sides of the station. The East Exit side where the hotel is located is much quieter at night, many houses dimming their lights early. On the other hand, the Zenkoji Exit side (the right side of the gate) is very lively and glamorous. The city feels like it has two completely different faces! I am very pleased with the easy access to the train station and the bus terminal. From here, you can easily take a bus to the Alpine Route, Hakuba, Kamikochi, or Jigokudani Monkey Park. Zenkoji Temple is also close by, about a 15-minute walk. The nearest coin laundry is a little over 1 km away.

the room is spacious and clean. the best experience staying in this hotel and near the train and bus stations.

If you want to experience a quiet, province-like atmosphere, Nagano is definitely a great place to visit. It has fewer people, making it peaceful and relaxing. The hotel staff are accommodating, and many places are conveniently located near JR train stations, transportation and 7/11. One thing to note is that rooms usually have a heater instead of a cooling air conditioner, so if you want a cooler temperature, you may need to open the window.

Very near Nagano Station, they have free luggage storage as well so very worth it. Pretty affordable as well!

The bed wasn’t the best mattress to sleep on and was a semi double a bit too small for 2 people. the staff were excellent, the location is absolutely perfect! it was as expected no thrills but does a good job.

location is the most covenient plus it has a lot of nearby famous spots and shops that you can walk into

hotel location is very convenient, just in front of nagano east exit. near from convenience stores, staff are accomodating, they have unlimited supplies of coffee,toiletries.. room is kinda good for 2 person, overall ok for us

Overall, my stay at Hotel Cortland was good! The location is the biggest plus - it's just across from the JR station, making it super convenient for traveling around the city. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and I didn't encounter any issues during my 3-night stay. Everything worked as expected and the experience was smooth. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially if you're looking for convenient access to public transportation. Great value for the location!
