This is an excellent way to experience an authentic Japanese Ryokan. The twisting hallways, the spacious tatami mat rooms, the delicious breakfast, the onsen, and the kind elderly couple who run the whole place come together to make a homey and relaxing stay. It’s quite close to Zenkōji temple and along the main strip of shops making it an excellent location. If you are looking for a Ryokan in Nagano, I fully recommend this one.

This Ryokan was a wonderful experience through and through. The keepers, an elderly couple, were very sweet to us and helpful in any way! We often had little chitchat with them (considering also that we spoke a bit of japanese) and they did they best to make our stay the best. Rooms and the shared bath were clean and cozy considering it is a very old house! The breakfast was delicious and nutricious, it was home made and fresh. The ryokan is located conveniently in front of a bus stop and at a street with many nice shops and restaurants which leads to the Zenkōji! We never had any issues with the curfew (22:00) and when we asked to leave early in the morning to attend the Zenkōji morning mass the couple was very forthcoming. We were all in all extremely happy and satisfied and would absolutely recommend to stay here!
