Transport in Yilan

It's very easy and convenient to redeem the tickets. The bus terminal is connected to the Taipei main train station. The ride from Taipei to Jiaoxi is also very smooth and comfortable.

I had fun exploring Southern Taiwan with this 3 day pass. Very easy to use, it comes with a booklet that you'll get from the HSR counter. You can book your HSR in advance through the website, can even change your time of departure when you go to the counter. My accomodation is in Taipei and the day trips in Taichung and Tainan was just a breeze. HSR also provides free shuttle bus between HSR station to the main city, just research for the bus number. You have to go through the staff at the gates to pass through, they will inspect the booklet. I'll comeback to explore more of South Taiwan!

First time using self-service bike rental and return... Although the process was a bit sticky at first (don't scan the QR code on the right side of the entrance, scan the one pasted after going straight in), I found it very convenient once I got the hang of it, especially the return. Because I needed to return the bike earlier than service staff were working... self-service return gave me a lot more freedom in terms of time.

We chose to cook hot spring food at Qingshui Geothermal Park, Make scallion bread & buy souvenirs at Chumi Family Farm, Admire the larch trees & Anong Creek at Tianxin Bridge in Sanxing Township, Visit Meihua Lake in Dongshan Township for sightseeing, Along the way, he also took us to the Shiqiu Tiemalang Trail Observation Deck (Dafu Observation Deck) to view Guishan Island from afar, and we were able to touch the fine black sand & watch the waves on the Yilan coast. Longer duration train ride from Kaohsiung to Taipei on TRA theme train. Worth the time spent. Free drinks throughout - non alcoholic. Happy hour for unlimited beer. One meal provided. Onboard karaoke for passengers use. Theme merchandise, cutlery, cup, cup holders, napkins and wet tissues. So much more fun for the family and kids. Clean train cabin and better looking chairs. Comfortable 5 hours and 14 minutes ride just for the experience.

It was very convenient for me to transfer buses at the Taoyuan Airport Passenger Service Counter to fly to Shifen. The passenger bus was clean and comfortable. It took about 2.5 hours to reach Luodong Bus Station, and there are many buses near the station to take to my hotel.

Did our own itinerary with diver Marco. He contacted us the night before departure and all I did was give him a list of places we intended to visit, and told him out "must-dos" and basically let him handle the route direction. He also helped confirm which bubble-tea making session we could book as this had to be done in advance. On the day itself, he noticed we wanted to have stinky tofu at a night market and instead brought us to one that is famous around the area. Also seeing my leg in a air-cast, he brought us to a public hot spring to get a quick foot soak - both out of our itinerary. Also a last minute request to find a certain snack was fulfilled. His knowledge of the area is great and you're definitely in for a good trip with Marco. Also car looked quite new, was very clean, spacious and he provided adequate bottles of water. While driving, you always felt safe as he kept a good distance and speed to the surrounding traffic. Also always finding the safest spot for drop offs.
