It's a fun and worthwhile experience! The entire activity takes about 1.5 hours (including travel time and instruction). The actual flight time in the sky is around 6 minutes. They also provide 360-degree camera equipment and video downloads, making it a truly rare experience.

The shuttle bus departs from the rear station of Chiayi Train Station. Please gather 10 minutes early. A reminder SMS will be sent the day before. For the Dragon Boat Festival long weekend, the ferry company provided ferry schedule information by phone the day before departure. Budai Port was very crowded, but the weather and sea conditions were good. The journey to Magong Port took approximately 80 minutes.

Fantastic 5.0
The shop is a bit far from the airport, so they provide a shuttle service. Both the driver and the shop staff were very friendly. The vehicle was new and comfortable to ride, though it's a shame they didn't provide helmet liners. It was great that it didn't rain at all these past few days. A 20-inch suitcase fits perfectly on the footrest.

Fantastic 5.0
The cruise ship is clean and comfortable, and the price isn't expensive. I especially recommend the sleeper cabins; they are truly comfortable! You can lie down and sleep the whole way until you arrive. The journey wasn't very dizzying either; the large ship body was very comfortable, and there's even a cafe and game room inside. It's like a deluxe version of a cruise ferry. The kids were very at ease on the ship, able to freely explore and run around, and when they got tired, they could go back to the sleeper cabin to rest. It's especially suitable for families with babies, as taking a baby on a cramped plane or small boat is truly a nightmare. The next time I go to Penghu, I will definitely choose the Penghu Ferry again.

We'd like to thank the driver for providing such a detailed introduction to Penghu's attractions, allowing us to capture the beauty of Penghu. Since we were traveling with elderly family members, the driver also kindly helped them get out of the car, which we truly appreciate.

Li Wen arrived at the hotel promptly at 10 AM to pick us up. Since we didn't have any specific attractions planned, she helped us choose the most suitable places to visit. The entire trip was very pleasant and comfortable, and we hope to explore other parts of Penghu next time.

Fantastic 5.0
On Qimei Island, we chose to take the bus. It was a spacious, air-conditioned coach, which was very comfortable. We had 15-30 minutes at each scenic spot, which was plenty of time to take photos, and the tour was very efficient. The bus driver also acted as a tour guide, providing commentary while driving. Please note that this tour is not designed for foreigners and commentary is only provided in Chinese. As a Japanese speaker with only enough Chinese to understand meeting times, I was still able to participate in the tour without any issues. Seating on the ferry is open, and when traveling between islands, it's first-come, first-served again. Arriving earlier than the designated meeting time allows you to choose your preferred seat.

What to know before visiting Penghu

Quick overview of Penghu’s visitor scene

Penghu’s strongest booking categories are water activities, tours and cruises, reflecting a year shaped by sea-focused day trips and island-hopping experiences. Demand rises sharply into the summer months and falls to a quiet winter low, so the island alternates between busy, sunny seasons and much calmer periods.

When to visit and how prices move

Klook booking data show demand peaks in June and bottoms out in January, with a steady climb from spring into midsummer and quieter months through late autumn and winter. Prices drift up and down across the year: according to Klook data, the typically priciest month is January while the typically cheapest is December, and prices are generally mid-to-lower during the summer peak months shown in the price series. For lower prices and smaller crowds, plan for the quieter months around December and January; for full summer atmosphere and busiest activity, aim for June through August. Note that demand and prices do not move perfectly together here—demand is highest in June while price peaks around January—so you can still find relatively reasonable prices during some busy months.

Tips for travellers from Malaysia

Most visitors book activities for Penghu around two to three weeks in advance, so if you have set dates it helps to lock in key water activities and tours roughly that far ahead. If your trip is flexible, many experiences can still be booked at short notice (a few days out), especially outside the peak summer surge—use Klook to compare offerings and secure spots when you see ones that match your plans.
