Time to use MyDigital ID for travel & gov services…
Malaysia is going digital — even for travel and immigration. Starting 15 January 2026, MyDigital ID becomes the official single login method for key government services, including immigration systems used at the airport.

MyDigital ID is the official digital identity platform launched by the Malaysian government. Think of it like your digital passport for Malaysian government services online — one login for many apps and portals.

- Safe identity verification using the National Registration Department database (no personal data stored inside apps).
- Easy access to apps like MyNIISe, MyJPJ, MyBayar Saman, and many more.

Basically, MyDigital ID is your official digital key for online government services in Malaysia.
How MyDigital ID Affects Travel
Many think MyDigital ID is just for government matters “at home,” but it’s actually important for travel too — especially when using the MyNIISe app for immigration in Malaysia.
Starting 15 January 2026, single-login via MyDigital ID will be mandatory for Malaysians at key entry points, including:
- KLIA Terminal 1 & Terminal 2
- Penang Airport, Kuching, and Kota Kinabalu
For now, you can still use MyBorderPass (which will eventually be discontinued) and the normal e-gates. MyNIISe is still in a phased trial at selected airports, so it’s rolling out gradually.

Once set up:
1. Open MyDigital ID
2. Go to MyNIISe
3. Select MyGate QR
4. Show the QR code at the reader
Don’t forget — you still need to bring your physical passport with you!

- 📸 Scan your MyKad (front and back).
- 😊 Complete the face verification (eKYC) — make sure you’re in good light, and take a clear photo (no hats or sunglasses).
- 🔐 Set your password — and you’re good to go!
